The Razer Blade 16" (2023) Customer Firmware Updater dated 2024-07-25 won’t install.

When it launches, it complains about that it can’t load the driver WinRing0x64.sys . So I disable Core Isolation und rebooted. Now the application launches but nothing happens. Any hints? I am on Windows 11 23H2 pro.

Same issue here, as well as the THX Driver not on my device, they keep asking me for the same information I already provided, synapse logs and a video….

I had same issue.

but after razer factory reset(download from razer homepage)  I could install this firmware update.

now I have to install clean window again..

Exact same issue here.

This laptop is the worst piece of equipment I’ve ever dealt with, and that’s saying something coming from the IT world.

For starters, its second NVME bay doesn’t hold the drive with enough upward force, so there are constant PCIE issues.

The back cover is held on by tiny torx/hex screws that are easily stripped.  It’s a real pain in the butt to get into the thing.

I just did a complete Win11 reinstall on it, and now I’m running into this screen flickering issue that can only be solved, apparently, with their “panel update” package.  That won’t run correctly because of this issue you all are seeing.  I’m super frustrated.

Razer, at least have a Rep check in here and tell us it’s being worked on.  Or continue being a horrible company.  I’m gonna return this thing, and never buying another product.  Enjoy your life.

I was able to install the drivers on my Windows 11 machine using the following but not sure exactly which step was the “magic” sauce.

Open Device Security
Open Core Isolation
Disable Memory Integrity
Reboot
Disable Vulnerable Driver Blocklist
Reboot to Advanced startup mode (System | Recovery | Advanced Startup | Restart now)
Change Startup Settings (Windows startup settings - Microsoft Support)
Select Disable driver signature enforcement (F7)
Install the firmware updates
Reboot
Turn on all the security options again

This did solve the problem and I have successfully installed the update. Thanks a lot!

Thank you. I have upgraded successfully. Razer should have specific recommendations.

After upgrading, TGP is reduced to 130W,  GPU frequency from 1425 - 1815Mhz

As ownser of this so expensive piece of equipments, we shouldnt be doing this kind of stuff as plenty of users are non IT experts. This really sucks 😪. I have a blade 16 (2023) and just had problems not only with this, but with synapse (Now in beta as Synapse 3 didnt recognize the laptop), and touchpad too (being able to move the pointer wuth the touchpad, but tap function lost). Paid $4500 for this thing but im not really sure if it was a good desicion to buy it. Shame on me

Hi all, thanks to the guide, I was able to install the latest firmware update for the 2023 Blade 16. I was wondering if anyone else’s trackpads are still weird after the firmware update? Right after installing everything, the trackpad seemed better, but after switching virtualization off and using it again, it seems to be “sticky” (I don’t know how else to put it) at times again.

edit: I have been using the laptop away from my thunderbolt dock (just as a regular laptop I suppose) and the trackpad works much better most of the time. There are still times where it is “sticky” but overall it is showing much less issues. It seems that some part of my docking setup doesn’t agree with the trackpad.

I have the exact same problem (RZ09-0483x, RTX 4090 model) and because I paid 4500$ for this professional grade machine, I’m not going to use any unofficial “tricks” and “sorcery” to get updates installed. Fortunately it’s been only a month since Razer launched this update so nothing to worry about. They must be hard at work fixing it any moment now. No wait.. god help me.

Honestly, I’m not entirely sure the disable driver signature enforcement is required, so unless you have virtualization turned off to have your device undervolted, you should be able to temporarily disable memory integrity and the vulnerable driver boot list all within the windows settings.

You guys managed to update Bio from V2.02 to V2.03? The update went thru and the laptop restarted but the bios version stayed at V2.02

My whole point was that you shouldn’t need to mess with any settings to get an official update installed. Especially not when you gave them a huge amount of money to get a solidly working professional computer. I’m also pretty sure that these workarounds are neither what Razer intended.

Worth noting that I tried downloading and installing this update again last night... and it worked perfectly without any workarounds. I'm not sure what changed from before... perhaps a Windows update or Synapse update? Very happy to finally see it working though!

same issue here, stuck on v2.02 can’t update to v2.03

Anyone had a further solution to this? I tried the method listed above and Synapse still says Firmware Update Available, with BIOS update still stuck on v2.02.

I resolved all issues with BIOS update V2.03 and customer firmware update not installing by trying again under clean boot conditions.

For those who are having issues installing either of these updates, I suggest trying again while under clean boot conditions.

I also was unable to update the BIOS while the machine kept telling me to update.

I ended up doing the first 2 steps in andweng’s suggestion and then was able to apply the BIOS update.

Open Device Security
Open Core Isolation
Disable Memory Integrity
Reboot
Disable Vulnerable Driver Blocklist

I did not have to change the startup settings.

I hope others will find this and make it a little easier figuring out how to get the updates to apply.

It’s very frustrating with such an expensive and “high caliber” machine and I mirror the infuriation's of trying to figure out what should be part of a normal automated update process.  Especially something like the BIOS which is such a core component of the machine.

Want to see if anyone had ideas here.

I have a razer Balde 16 (2023) i9/13950HX + 4090, and since I bought it has replaced the desktop I had, and it has been on my desk since I bought it, and never retrieve it of my thunderbolt 4 dock station, so I can´t remember if my trackpad was defective or not, and my laptop is now out of limited warranty.

I had problems with synapse 3, so I moved with the beta version (No problems so far), I have reinstalled drivers, disabled USB power saving, updated Windows fully including all option driver updates, clean re-installation and updated of Synpase and run its updates.

I was cleaning my laptop, open tha back cover, remove the battery to clean fans, close it again and when tried to use the touchpad, for my surprise, I was able to move the pointer, but unable to tap it (click function), so I had to use an external mouse. I have been playing with all kind of settings for the touchpad with no success. Ask for help for CS but no luck (U may know how it is) Unfortunately, out of guarantee.

So, I wonder if anyone have ever had this kind of problems with touchpad? Could be a defective touchpad? The fact that I can move the pointer with the touchpad, but can’t make click on it (Tap it) could be related with software issues? Are movement and tap functions controlled by different hardware components?

Any comments help or advice will be highly appreciated

For Razer Blade 16 (2023) and Razer Blade 18 (2023)

1. Temporarily Disable Driver Signature Enforcement:

Open Settings and go to System > Recovery.

Under Advanced Startup, click on Restart Now.

After the system restarts, select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings.

Click on Restart.

After restarting again, select option 7 (Disable driver signature enforcement).

This will allow the unsigned driver WinRing0x64.sys to load.

2. Disable Windows Defender (if necessary):

Open Settings and go to Privacy & Security > Windows Security.

Click on Manage settings under Virus & Threat Protection.

Temporarily turn off Real-time Protection.

Note: Only disable this temporarily and be cautious when installing unverified drivers.

3. Check for Driver or Firmware Updates for the Razer Blade:

Razer often releases driver updates for their devices. Visit Razer Synapse or Razer Support to check for driver or BIOS/Firmware updates for your Razer Blade 18.

4. Disable Secure Boot (if necessary):

If the driver is still being blocked, try disabling Secure Boot in your Razer Blade's BIOS/UEFI.

Restart the laptop and press F2 or DEL to access the BIOS.

Navigate to the Boot tab and disable Secure Boot.

Save the changes and restart the system.

These steps should allow you to load the WinRing0x64.sys driver.  🙂

Just for ur info. If you open up the laptop, you’ll find there is a screw at the lowest part near the battery. I end it up loosing it a bit and touchpad finally work again! COuldnt belive it and i’m really happy bcs after 1 year i could finally use the toudhpad.
