Razer Blade 16" (2023) Customer Firmware won't install

The Razer Blade 16" (2023) Customer Firmware Updater dated 2024-07-25 won’t install.

When it launches, it complains about that it can’t load the driver WinRing0x64.sys . So I disable Core Isolation und rebooted. Now the application launches but nothing happens. Any hints? I am on Windows 11 23H2 pro.

I have the same error

I was able to install the drivers on my Windows 11 machine using the following but not sure exactly which step was the “magic” sauce.

Open Device Security
Open Core Isolation
Disable Memory Integrity
Reboot
Disable Vulnerable Driver Blocklist
Reboot to Advanced startup mode (System | Recovery | Advanced Startup | Restart now)
Change Startup Settings (Windows startup settings - Microsoft Support)
Select Disable driver signature enforcement (F7)
Install the firmware updates
Reboot
Turn on all the security options again

Update: After asking for lots and lots of information, Razer support now asks me to expect an answer in a few days. So maybe there will be some help finally.

Bump… having same issue.

Let us know what you hear back. I just bothered to update the firmware on the device to hopefully resolve my USB-C charging and some other things. Would be interested in what this update has in store.

Well, I had them ask for a video of the problem which I already provided and now they say they will come back to me in 3-5 business days. Sounds to me like the issue actually made it to the real technical support.

As ownser of this so expensive piece of equipments, we shouldnt be doing this kind of stuff as plenty of users are non IT experts. This really sucks 😪. I have a blade 16 (2023) and just had problems not only with this, but with synapse (Now in beta as Synapse 3 didnt recognize the laptop), and touchpad too (being able to move the pointer wuth the touchpad, but tap function lost). Paid $4500 for this thing but im not really sure if it was a good desicion to buy it. Shame on me

Exact same issue here.

I have the exact same problem (RZ09-0483x, RTX 4090 model) and because I paid 4500$ for this professional grade machine, I’m not going to use any unofficial “tricks” and “sorcery” to get updates installed. Fortunately it’s been only a month since Razer launched this update so nothing to worry about. They must be hard at work fixing it any moment now. No wait.. god help me.

Honestly, I’m not entirely sure the disable driver signature enforcement is required, so unless you have virtualization turned off to have your device undervolted, you should be able to temporarily disable memory integrity and the vulnerable driver boot list all within the windows settings.

My whole point was that you shouldn’t need to mess with any settings to get an official update installed. Especially not when you gave them a huge amount of money to get a solidly working professional computer. I’m also pretty sure that these workarounds are neither what Razer intended.

Turns out there is an event in the WIndows Event Display about \Device\HarddiskVolume3\Program Files (x86)\Razer\Update Tool\WinRing0x64.sys    - that file seems corrupted.

I opened a support case. I used “Need Help?” on this page https://mysupport.razer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9739 and said the update won’t install, that the page is not helpful, and referenced this thread. We’ll see what that leads us to….

Same here! Any official replies from razer about this issue yet_

I hope they listen here?

Still no answer from Razer? Or it has already been fixed?

No wonder will they fix this problem

Same here,  I was able to install the BIOS update to upgrade from 2.02 to 2.03, but this update that lists improvements for GPU won’t install.

I had same issue.

but after razer factory reset(download from razer homepage)  I could install this firmware update.

now I have to install clean window again..

I don’t think there was any progress. 😬

This laptop is the worst piece of equipment I’ve ever dealt with, and that’s saying something coming from the IT world.

For starters, its second NVME bay doesn’t hold the drive with enough upward force, so there are constant PCIE issues.

The back cover is held on by tiny torx/hex screws that are easily stripped.  It’s a real pain in the butt to get into the thing.

I just did a complete Win11 reinstall on it, and now I’m running into this screen flickering issue that can only be solved, apparently, with their “panel update” package.  That won’t run correctly because of this issue you all are seeing.  I’m super frustrated.

Razer, at least have a Rep check in here and tell us it’s being worked on.  Or continue being a horrible company.  I’m gonna return this thing, and never buying another product.  Enjoy your life.

Thank you. I have upgraded successfully. Razer should have specific recommendations.

After upgrading, TGP is reduced to 130W,  GPU frequency from 1425 - 1815Mhz

Really? For 14 days still no update from Razer?

Same issue :/

Same issue here, as well as the THX Driver not on my device, they keep asking me for the same information I already provided, synapse logs and a video….

Worth noting that I tried downloading and installing this update again last night... and it worked perfectly without any workarounds. I'm not sure what changed from before... perhaps a Windows update or Synapse update? Very happy to finally see it working though!
