Hey everyone! I've coordinated with our Support Team and showed them your feedbacks after updating the laptop's NVIDIA driver. Please expect another NVIDIA driver updates since the issue is unresolved after the last firmware release. Please wait for the Razer Blade Pro 17" (2019) | RZ09-0314x and Razer Blade Pro 17" (2020) | RZ09-0329x further announcement here or on our support site.

This issue will NOT BE FIXED with a NVIDIA driver update.
We require a BIOS update, ideally this BIOS update will also include a -100 CPU under volt and or unlock XTU access, our CPU performance was reduced by 30% compared to BIOS 1.0, the original BIOS this laptop shipped with and all for naught since the black screen issues persist.
I still can't believe that RAZER cares so little about their top tier customers.
Just to add to the chorus but I also have this issue. I have a support ticket in but based on this thread I doubt it will amount to much. $5000 earlier this year for a computer that can't update video drivers without having the screen turn black is incredibly unacceptable. The fact that it's been 5 months is insane. At this point it's pretty much guaranteed I will never buy another Razer product ever again and I will absolutely not recommend them to anyone ever.
What sucks is the HWID exists in the 451.58 DCH drivers, so it does install. That's great and all but you lose access to the laptops 120hz display when in dedicated GPU mode.

I went back to 446.14 by just instaling the inf manually and forcing it with devmgmt have disk install for both the gpu driver and typ c driver then just installed the control panel. The drivers seem stable, but it's kinda a shame.

I'm all about being an enthusiast and having to do some heavy lifting for good perf from time to time, but this is a bit rediculous.

Que cambios a hecho?

I have Bios 1.06, updated windows, Nvidia 460.89 Drivers.
But I am at Optimus Mode 60 Hz.
At the time of Switching to dedicated GPU 120 Hz after reboot the screen turned Black again.

My first work around was just to disable the autmatic hibernation. I could work at the cost of the lost of energy saving. But it is no solution for just closing the cover were the hibernation could not be disabled.

I understand your concern, I actually had to do lots of research on this and turns out there is a way to avoid hibernation. I remember I followed a guide and had to change multiple settings to accomplish it. You see, originally I was using an external monitor as a temporary solution while Razer worked on a permanent one, however whenever my laptop went into hibernation, even with the external monitor, my laptop display would stop working so I finally had enough and really dove deep into what was causing the problem because I realized it only happened when in hibernation which turns out is different than sleep. Based on the research I did, hibernation actually turns off critical internal components to conserve power, one of them being the display and RAM. So I researched it not from just the perspective of my razer laptop but from a perspective of how to kill hibernation in general on any windows PC and it turns out this is an issue that other PC's also experience and there are guides out there that explain step by step how to prevent windows from ever going into hibernation. Sleep is not the same as hibernation, so your laptop can still sleep. Anyway as I said, I am not entirely sure if this alone is what fixed the problem but I have been (fingers crossed) free of black screens and enjoying the "privilege" of using latest drivers ans windows versions.
At least it is worth looking into.
It turned out, I had the hibernation never in use, it was always energy seving only. If I set hibernation in use, then the internal screen gets recognized during the switching on of the laptop and works fine.
So I have to correct me, the energy saving mode, which doesn't turn off the laptop leads to the black screen, not the hibernation with switched off computer.
I set the laptop to energy saving and after reactivating the screen stays dark, I plugged in my external screen and set the laptop to hibernation and after waking the laptop up again, the internal screen is working too.
I'm going to set hibernation wherever possible and keep the newest NVIDIA driver active to see if there is some problem left.
Sure did. I got XMP with the memory, but when i set it the machine wouldn't boot and i had to open it up and clear the cmos by pulling power and battery to get booted again.

In terms of perf loss with my -125 undervolt vs this bios with no undervolt i lost about 400 points in cinebench r20 bringing my score from 3804 to 3400ish.

A memory upgrade isn't going to get me back the performance i've clearly lost over losing undervolting. I haven't try to see if this bios can be modified but even if it can, it's not worth the risk at this point.

Honestly, i wanna roll back to the 1.0 bios and just go without the XMP.

Not very enthusiast friendly of Razer at all. This kinda defeats the purpose of shelling out this kind of money for a machine meant for power users.

Still though, not going to lie that it's a fantastic machine. I just wish they'd at least build in a default undervolt of -110 or something.

success!!! So i figured out how to get it working on my razer blade 15! Now I'm about to try it on my Razer Pro 17. But these are the steps I took:
1. Use DDU to remove the drivers and make sure you tick the box that stops windows update or windows to auto search the drivers and remove the DCH control panel needs to be ticked as well.
2. Reboot and when back in download the geforce experience app from the nvidia site it iis the one called automatic driver update with the download now beneath it.
3. Once the nvidia experience app is installed then it will automatically download the latest drivers and I chose express install and now it is working on my blade 15!

Update: same steps didn't work on my blade pro 17 2020....

You paid a premium for their product to solve their shit..

I want to downgrade the bios. There is not way to go back to the BIOS 1.0 right?
I am in the same shoes, I flashed the 1.03 version and want to revert the flash to 1.01
Hello, please go to the link and give Nvidia feedback about the driver. The more you give feedback, the higher the chance that something will change.

Driver 460.97 doesn't solve anything for me. Still always black screen with energy save and sometimes with hibernation too.
I'm on the phone with Razer support (of course it's a non-US call center with reps that know nothing) I'm told they are aware of the issue and have no ETA. The said the solution is to use Optimus. (*Omitted). I paid EXTRA for a 120hz screen and a high-end video card. The solution should not be to NOT USE THEM AS ADVERTSIED. I asked to return my laptop as it's effectively a paper weight at this point and it is not fulfilling it's advertised function as a GAMING PC if you can't update to the latest drivers from NVIDIA without cutting features that I paid for. I'm told I'm out side the 14 day return window... (*Omitted). I am never purchasing a Razer product ever again and I will never recommend anyone else does either.
@Razer.SpeedCr0ss Heads up, I'm going to file a dispute against Razer in court in 30 days if this is not fixed.

The only thing I change/added was a

1TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus

2TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus

Crucial Ballistix 3200 MHz DDR4 DRAM Laptop Gaming Memory Kit 64GB (32GBx2)

I don't think this is the reason why people have problems.
you are right. What is razer advertising: : 4K 120 Hz display, XMP support, performance in a thin chassis. What do you get: No 120 Hz with the latest NVidia drivers, no XMP in bios, no undervolting to boost performance. It is ridiculous. I really hope the read this here and try to get things fixed!

I'll let the team provide an official statement about it. And yes, I'll update this thread as soon I got an answer from the team. Thanks for understanding.

Hey everyone! We from the Razer Insider Team, Support Team, and devs are working hand in hand to speed up identify the root of the issue. The team is asking for your patience and cooperation, especially, if we ask to send your logs and other details from your PC as it will be used during the investigation.

They are only suggesting using DDU to clean install NVIDIA drivers but honestly I believe other users in this thread already tried this correct?

I created a case yesterday and the support agent seemed not to be aware of the situation. I pointed him towards the various threads around here. Case (*Omitted for security reasons)
Have a Blade Pro 17 2020 4k and also got into the situation that Windows 10 2004(which was offered by Windows Update) in combination with latest Nvidia Drivers caused dedicated GPU-only mode to stop working. Had to switch to Optimus mode in BIOS and reverted back to Windows 10 1909 for the time being.
so, @Razer.SpeedCr0ss here we are again. Is there any update at all? It seems your brand new laptops have the same issue. I can't imagine that's good for business.

Where's the update on status? There's been literally ZERO communication from Razer about this.

Hi! Welcome to the "Cult of Razer" lol
No siriusly, may I ask what version of the RBP 17 2021 you have?
The one with the 120 Hz 4k screen? 1080p 300Hz screen? 1440p with 165 Hz?
Does it also have a "GPU Only" and "Optimus" modes in Synapse?

Thanks

Hello, it's the 4k 120hz one. And yes, it Aldo have both settings on synapse.

Thanks for letting us know, how interesting that your issue only happens while on battery.
So when you are plugged to power there are no issues with black screens?
May I ask a huge favor? Would you mind sharing 3DMark FireStrike benchmark scores?
I am so interested in knowing ho much more performance there is between the 2080 and the 3080 versions.
Our 2080 is limmited to 100w Power Limit, I wonder what the PL is on the 3080.

This is probably my best result ever, even though it was in BIOS 1.0 so I wont ever be able to match that physics score again after they locked undervolting.

FYI: You can get 3D Demo free in Steam to run Fire Strike
