thanks, At the end I did a clean install with usb drive. i had all the drivers, so everything ok so far.
I also keep the original ssd.
I know have my Razer fully complete with Dbrand skin, 32gig of ram and a 2to nvme ssd.
I should be ready for the next 2 razer blade generation.
Next one will have a nice oled panel.

Really happy with my purchase so far. next step check a tutorial on how to undervolt and overclock my Razer.
If anyone as a link I would grattely appreciate it.
Also what free benchmark for cpu GPU should I use to check my laptop perfornance now and after the undervolt overclock?

you just created a usb boot install of windows and that it?

received my ssd going to instal it this w.e, first time for me to reinstall an OS from an usb drive.

Just like you it s my 3rd razer laptop, I had the first one, then the 2015 and now the 2019.
I will keep this one till thet have a razer blade with oled 120htz 4k and a graphic card strong enough to drive it. may be 2 or 3 generarion of graphic card will be needed.


So what I do is power on my laptop when I first receive it to make sure it at least boots and is not damaged. Then, instead of completing the typical "first boot" installation of Windows, I just power it down and then remove the stock NVMe SSD that it shipped with. I then use a desktop machine that I have setup to quickly clone a NVMe SSD. It's a Windows 10 based machine and I use Acronis True Image, which does a great job and is very flexible. I clone the stock NVMe to the larger, replacement NVMe and then I install the replacement in the laptop, boot; and complete the Windows setup.

Once the machine is setup, I upgrade the version of Windows from the Home version that Razer ships, to the Pro version.

Cloning the stock NVMe is ideal, because you don't have to install any drivers, you can set aside the stock NVMe, and if you decide to sell the laptop later, or you have to send it in for repair, you can just pop in the original NVMe and you have a factory fresh configuration.

To do the cloning, you don't need the same hardware I run. Using TrueImage, you can make an image of the stock NVMe and save it as a file using available disk space and then restore it to the larger capacity drive you intend to use. The process is the same, just takes a bit longer.

I would try to install with usb boot that created from recovery menu, i didn’t do that but I saw user who did it and get original Razer version windows, probably drivers etc set together on it so you don’t need doing hassle installing this and that. I did fresh install from Microsoft download Page but I think I loose some function like recovery menu by pressing F9 on boot, that’s why I still keep the original 256gb ssd in case there’s something going wrong.

Really happy with it so fr. waiting for dhl to bring my 2to ssd plus my dbrand skins, I already bought 32 Giga of Ram.

I played yesterday at 4k on a 55in oled hdr.
resident evil 2 and tomb raider arround 60 frames @4k, sure it drops, but seriously it was really playable and just beautifull.

this laptop is a beast.

Edit : By the way, are they any way to turn on the computer through an external keyborad when he has the lid closed?

I don't know of a hot key combination to turn on a laptop with an external keyboard. There used to be a way to do it before Windows 10, but I don't think it is supported and longer.

I did the same thing as you, I put in a 2Tb SSD in, threw on a dBrand Matrix skin, but upgraded the RAM to the 64GB max. Like I said, I would not run the machine with the screen down while using an application that has high GPU demand due to the heat generated. Even after I shut my machine down, I typically will wait a few minutes before closing the lid to make sure the machine has sufficiently cooled. I'm probably being over cautious because of my concern for the OLED screen, but that's me.

I've had several iterations of Razer laptops over the last few years and I have to say that the current Advanced 15 is by far my favorite - a nearly perfect machine for my needs. I'm not a gamer, but I need good build quality and something that is expandable. I'm willing to pay a premium price for something that will reliably perform and the quality of a gaming laptop as opposed to a typical consumer grade laptop is such that when I looked at top tier gaming laptops, for me Razer was the clear choice. The ability to run a AAA game title is definitely a plus but not a core requirement and Razer. Plus, as a company, Razer seems to be improving. Customer service is now much better than it was as recently as a year ago. It used to be absolutely horrific!

I'm planing on getting one of their Studio laptops as well when they become available!

I have a Blade Advanced 2080 with OLED and I have yet to use it with an external monitor, let alone with the lid closed, but I know the top of the keyboard area where the GPU is located can get quite hot. To figure out how hot, I used a FLIR camera and recorded an idle temperature of 106.5F / 41.4C which is quite reasonable and it was not uncomfortable to the touch. To determine what the temperature would be during a typical gaming session, I ran Hitman 2 for 45 minutes and then measured the temperature in the same region, which increased to 135.1F / 57.3C and was uncomfortable to the touch. I never closed the screen during my measurements, but if I had, the temperatures would be higher since a closed screen would trap radiated heat coming from the hot surface of the laptop. Sorry but I was not going to use my OLED screen to figure out how much!

Also, you might want to consider that I did this in a relatively cool room 72F / 22.2C and if the room had been warmer, the respective temperatures would have been higher as well. I've used external monitors in the past with laptops that got quite hot, lid down, and never had a problem. The LCD screens did not appear to be affected but with OLED, I'm not taking any chances, and the temps on these gaming laptops, while getting better can still get up there. My advice would be if you use an external monitor, leave the screen open, or at least partially open to facilitate cooling and minimize any potential damage to your screen.

Why does it matter to you if it's opened or closed?
Also have you got any external cooling mehods?

Blade15 is most compact 15 inch gaming laptop, and I don’t think there’s 15inch laptops that support lga socket due cooling room and can deliver power to those desktop class cpu, correct me if I’m wrong, latest hardware maybe on 17inch Area 51m and some barebone Clevo laptops and usually comes with dual power brick for support the hardware.
