The Game Awards announced it's nominees for Game of the Year. This is always a great time for me, first because of the holidays, but also because I feel like it's a good time to end the year of games with games and a celebration of games (the holidays are a good time to catch up and play games).

So this week's question is a two-parter.

  • What game do you think will win Game of the Year?
  • What games are you playing over the holidays?

This is the Thread of the Week. Good responses may get you over 1000 Razer Silver!

The Outer Worlds looks really cool, will probably get it and grind it over the holidays.

I'm having a real though time choosing between Control and Outer Worlds since I haven't been able to play them yet... Darned exclusive deals >.>

As for part 2... I'd probably be playing Neverwinter, Shadow of Tomb Raider, a bit of Titanfall, Division, and maybe CoD WW2. I have a HUGE backlog 😛

In terms of pure fun, nothing beats Smash Bros. No RDR 2 on the polls though.

Havent played the Outer Worlds yet but I have seen people give out nice reviews for it. Resident Evil was a disappointment for me, I guess its good as a remake but not fun for anyone new to the franchise.

Both answers are obvisouly Death stranding !
Even though holidays won't be long enough...

I have a strong feeling that Game of the Year will go to Death stranding, though Sekiro and Control stand a good chance of winning as they are pretty crazy with superb gameplay and content all together.

In action game's Modern Warfare is a top contender, plus i am playing it currently and its so gripping. Loved it that it stayed to its name, been a big COD fan :smile_:
thought outer worlds was kind of bland myself :|

Also surprised by lack of RDR2, it's not fair (as pretty most of all the polls). ;)
First the game was incredibly hyped, then really took the gaming to another level.
Scale of details, awesome graphics, feeling of freedom, and so on... for me is like Matrix :)
These guys deserve to their work being noticed.

Now idk how this poll came up with these options, but there are definitely more games eligible than those presented, released this year. I don't have any favorite from the list, it may be lacking some really good titles like Wolfenstein, Rage 2, Borderlands 3 and more.

I'd like to see Smash Bros win.
I've allways loved this serie.

From observing past winners, what makes a GOTY is great story-telling above all else. Something that sucks you in so deeply, you can't stop thinking about it or seeing it everywhere even when you step out of your door to attempt to live your "normal" life.

IMHO it's a toss-up between Death Stranding, Sekiro, and The Outer Worlds.

GOTY qualities:

  • great story-telling
  • great game mechanics
  • great artwork

Because I have a heavy bias for FPS + they've got all those Firefly references tugging at my li'l nerd-heartstrings, I'd very not-so-secretly hope for The Outer Worlds to win.
Although, Death Stranding is just the right mix of weird and fascinating plus let's not forget all the media hype, celebrity endorsement etc.
But tbvh I think Sekiro might just take the top spot after all because it seems to tick all the boxes, based on past winners' qualities.

I will be spending the holidays on none of the above, however. Oh who am I kidding, I don't even get to have holidays. But if the Lords of Kobol are willing and time can be made for games, it will be catching up on the backlog of games we had discussed in a previous thread recently... :smile_:

I'm hoping A Plague Tale wins it's nomination. Just finished it and it was great. Upcoming is Die Young, Jedi: Fallen Order, Life is Strange 2 (starting it when FINALLY all episodes are out), and RDR2 once it's on Steam.

Same. I'm super behind and will be catching up on Witcher 3 😅

Also, this is one helluva high quality answer 💯
The Outer Worlds is a breath of fresh air for single player games. So much content and options!
