Razer Phone 2 - Water Resistance IP67 MY A** | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
Here's what it is. Razer proudly claims that the new Razer Phone 2, upgrades to a flagship status, without hindering the community's request to water resistant the phone. And we are glad to announce it is now officially rated IP67. Right. It's in the keynote, pamphlet, official Razer Phone 2 page, Facebook, Instagram, everywhere. You get it.

But the actual fact here is a half baked gimmick, where they took a gamble to over claim, over promise.

Buying into their claims, I washed my phone the other day. Briefly, the phone couldn't charge. Thinking it be be moisture problems around the port, I made sure to not force it, leave it to dry for couple of hours and try again. Didn't work, then the phone went into boot loop, and the screen refuses to light up anymore.

Sent in for diagnosis, in hope for a warranty claim for the charging port maybe??

BUT, they came back and claim the phone is water damaged!!! The SIM Tray is damp, the mother board has water marks.

AND, water damage is not warranty claimable. They insisted that I submerged the phone more than 1 metre for a long period of time. I know what I did. So go figure.

SO my question here is, why advertise water resistance, when the company do not warrant for it.

So for my fellow Razer phone 2 users, keep it away from water. If you look closely to the sim tray, I see minimal effort in keeping water away. This is crap, pure crap.
Why would anyone wash their phone on tap water?

IP67 is Water Resistant not Water Proof.
Running water is not the same as submersion. It's all about water pressure.. Standing water has alot less water pressure then running water. And I personally wouldn't wash my phone no matter the IP rating, that's just asking for this kinda shit to happen, Maybe use a damp cloth at most...

no sentence for that but there is a sentence that there is no guarantee for any liquid other than plain water... so if you wash the phone with soap, then....

okay to be clear it's just running tap water.

then maybe Razer will come back with their smart Alec-y comment yes we found soap in the motherboard too.

LOL?

So which sentence in the articles says IP67 cannot wash huh??

It says can be submerged to 1m depth up to 30 min.

So yes there's nothing to be explained further from Razer.

Serious? Nice voice out though!

So now for me I'm not on both side, but make sure you read again the manual/guideline/warranty claiming or any other document that comes together with your phone. Also check Razer official website regarding the water damage on Razer Phone 2 stuff. You have to find it asap before they amend the words. I mean, yeah, this is part of consumer job, what you have to do is find the black and white written by Razer and show them, together with your own word for Razer to judge that: Your phone is naturally damaged, and you only realized after you wash it...

Life is game I guess? GL

I'm damn sure they are legally protected.

I'm not gonna make a fuzz with Razer to claim warranty, like they care for after sales.

My intention is to put the words out there, to remind Razer Phone 2 users, to stay away from water. THIS PHONE IS NOT PROPERLY BUILT FOR IP67. It's just a marketing shout, nothing more.
