Another dead NVME - Razer Blade 15 Advanced (2021) RZ09-0367x | Razer Insider

I'm honestly disappointed.

My system, in under a year has died on me twice due to hardware failure of the NVME board. These are Samsung OEM/whitelabels so they shouldn't be that bad, so my guess is they just have a bad batch in their supply.

First time my system died, started showing random errors, lock-ups, repeated BSOD/GSOD. Rebuilding provided no help. I didn't know the drive was dying at the time, as a checkdisk reported no errors and Samsung controller utilities didn't provide any warning either. Conveniently, there was also a pair of keyboard LEDs that had a single color burn out as well. Sent in the laptop all the way to Singapore to get fixed.

While it was there, they cross-linked my case with some native Singaporean's case, and they kept searching for the wrong problem. Further, once it was identified what was the issue and remedied, they then were going to send it to the wrong address. Luckily the courier called before heading out to the local Singaporean person's place to confirm and I let him know of the error. That plus a stern call from me managed to get it routed back to me correctly. I'm glad it was attempted to make right, but all of these errors, even when pointed out repeatedly in tickets, chats, and calls is simply very bad management.

Now, not even 6 months after the initial RMA, ANOTHER NVME drive has had a controller fail. Same type of Samsung OEM NVME. same symptoms. ...and the Warranty is conveniently over. Luckily it is not a difficult item to replace with some technical knowledge, but it is extremely frustrating at this lack of quality for this price level.

No overclocking, plenty of air, sits on a stand with a fan under it, no extensive gaming. Thing sits idle at 70C CPU and 60C GPU (which is HIGH AF for idle temps). If I crank the fan it could get down to 55C CPU at idle and 45-50C GPU. I fear for the battery in this poor device at these temps. The NVME controller is often running between 60-80C.

All in all, I am highly annoyed and rather disappointed in the lack of QA, the poor quality of components and the engineering decisions made on this laptop. I've had other gaming laptops last a decade (with obvious battery degradation). A single year of warranty on a _LAPTOP_ should have been telling when they will warranty their keyboards and mice longer. I have some bones to pick with your audio department as well, but that should be another thread.

Razer, I am disappointed in you. With your support, with your components, and in you as a company.

DO BETTER.
