Blade 17 2022 (3080 Ti 12800H 240Hz) video output via USB-C port using dGPU

Hi! Just got a new Blade 17 2022 (3080 Ti 12800H 240Hz) but I'm having some trouble getting the discrete GPU to be used when I'm connecting an external display. When Advanced Optimus is enabled in the BIOS, whenever I connect an external display via the USB-C port (either of the two ports) the Nvidia control panel auto-selects Optimus as the GPU mode, and don't let me change it. That's not ideal for me because I can't use HDMI on my monitor, but still wanted the dGPU to work, since the iGPU has some trouble driving it's 5K by 2K resolution.
