Issues regarding laptops with intel 13/14 gen chips | Razer Insider

hello

i purchased a razer blade 16 4080 with 14900hx in march and i’ve been having increasing issues with it since.

to cut straight to the point, the issue is the processor. theres been numerous articles/videos regarding issues with the 13/14 gen chips and they are used in razer laptops.

issues including: games crashing without error messages(elden ring, monster hunter dx11 issue, dota crashing midgame numerous times)

google chrome crashing

failure to download(example nvdia 7zip crc error)

failure to open programs(discord, razer synapse, etc)

i bandaided the issue by downclocking and undervolting the cpu but i still face stability issues.

the laptop is still currently under warranty but im wondering what razer’s solution would be for this since replacing or fixing the chip wont solve the big issue given the chips are flawed to begin with.

Windows 11 24H2 Release Preview version should fix a bunch of issues with these chipsets seeing as 24H2 has updated microcodes for many processors to fix issues as my Acer Predator X 17 has the i9-13900HX CPU and the Lenovo Legion 7i 2024 has the i9-14900HX CPU and are running 24H2 just fine.

So in a short, Windows 11 24H2 Release Preview in its current state should help a lot as it has for my two rigs with these chipsets you mention 🙂

Let us know how it goes, would be very interested to hear how 24H2 plays on your chipsets as well! BTW, 24H2 in Release Preview stage is very stable, you shouldn’t run into any major issues.

you dont need to underclock/volt with 24h2?

Not that I am aware of, its running fine on the two chipsets I mentioned

hmmm it didnt fix it for me, i still have to underclock

I would set the thermal settings back to all stock/default values and keep monitoring it for awhile, it is also very dangerous to modify your thermals settings on your own unless you know what you are doing exactly. By messing around with your thermals settings for the CPU n such is a very dangerous game to play as you can really break things.

NEVER mess with the stock values for thermals unless the OEM or chipset makers direct you to do so!

if i set it back to normal the computer cant function properly. im not overclocking it, just slightly undervolting and lowering clockspeeds

Sounding like you have a faulty unit to me dude, get ahold of Razer and see what they will do, you shouldn’t have to do anything like this if a computer is properly configured at factory state.

Your unit might blow up regardless at this point, it happened to my Acer with 13th Gen CPU and it took like 7 weeks for them to replace the unit
