OS shuts down when back plate is pressed

Hey everyone

I am encountering a very specific issue; when a certain part of the back plate is pressed, my Razer Blade 15 Advanced (2021) shuts down immediately. The hardware lights stay on (keyboard and lid logo) and the screen remains backlit, but the screen goes blank and processes all cease. The image on an external monitor (if connected) just freezes. Closing and reopening the lid does nothing.

The only fix is to hold the power button down to power off the laptop, then boot it back up again.

The specific part of the back plate is the centre, at the back - where you would naturally put your hand to carry the machine with the lid up. So it's very easy to trigger.

Razer Support are unwilling to help me because I live in a country outside their RMA catchment, and the retailer I bought the machine from is apparently not part of their 'approved retailer' list, so their warranty does not apply. Therefore I need to fix the problem myself (there's no warranty to void, after all).

I've rolled back and updated the drivers for both the Nvidia GPU and the Intel one. Razer have advised that I do a system recovery, but this is time-consuming and destructive, and the problem seems very much hardware- rather than software-related. It feels like they've told me to do this to waste my time and dissuade me from bothering them further so I haven't done it yet.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Has anyone fixed it? Could it be to do with the 'inflating battery' issue? (The battery in mine is not obviously swollen yet).

If anyone can shed any light I'd be very grateful. Razer, please leave this thread up as I'm specifically looking for community help and I've already got an active ticket for this issue.

Thank you

Tom
