This is definitely a software issue regarding Synapse 3.0
I have this issue regarding synapse and whenever I’m in a game like CSGO, audio in the background stops working. This usually happens when I have a game open for about ~1 minute, and some programs stop working. This seemingly happens to programs that aren’t actively playing audio when the game is open. For example, I’m playing CSGO with Discord open and I try to join a Discord channel when I’m playing. No sound comes out of Discord. This also impacts my web browser, Spotify, and even Windows sound effects themselves, including notifications.
The only solution I’ve had for this when it occurs is to disable audio enhancements in the device properties then turn it back on. I have to do this constantly throughout the day.
I’ve removed all games from Synapse and even turned off the game manager, the issue persists. I don’t use THX spatial audio, I only use Synapse for the custom EQ because the native EQ on the headphones is really bad.
I’ve already been through support with this with a multitude of solutions including cleaning drivers, reinstalling, etc. and it’s been inconclusive; though I was told I’ll receive an email and that the specialist team is looking into it.
Posting this to get some awareness and see if anybody else is having this issue. It’s extremely frustrating to deal with throughout the day because I have to constantly reset audio enhancements to get it to work.
This issue does not occur with Synapse disabled, which points to it being a direct software issue. I wish I could use these headphones without Synapse but the default EQ on it is pretty bad.
I also have the Discord stream buzzing issue which has thankfully already been address by Razer.
Hoping somebody else is dealing with this issue with me.

Sorry to hear about your BlackShark V2 Pro concern. By the way, is this the 2020 or 2023 version? Have you cleared all Razer-related files from your PC using the Razer Driver Clean-up tool: https://rzr.to/Tf53xj? Once done, please restart your computer, and install all supplementary updates available.

This is for the 2023 version and yes I have tried using the driver cleanup tool

Did you check if your anti-virus is blocking any Razer-related files? If you have using VPN, please disable it or join another network. Also, please update your headset’s firmware by clicking this link. Let me know how it went.
I’m having this issue now too. For example, the noise that plays when muting your mic on discord, or a discord message notification, etc. Additionally things like Outlook and other apps will have their sound cut/randomly muted. I have tried everything -- reinstalling synapse, firmware updates, every driver known to man.
Please fix Synapse, this software frankly is horrible and is the source of a TON of issues this headset has been having. The discord stream buzzing *just* got fixed after being an issue for months.
I have the same issue but this only happened after a headset and dongle update is there any way to roll back updates to previous version??
Hey roland90 and polyUnmellowYellow560. Our Support Team endeavors to know what is the causing this issue by conducting an investigation. We would like to know your Synapse version. We recommend submitting a case or send me a PM so I can help you create a case.
I also own the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro 2023 with the new firmware update, with audio issues.
It was happening when I was streaming, while playing Diablo 2. In a point where I was playing with some friends within the discord and i dont hear the twitch notifcations through OBS.
What happens when the notifications comes through, not only i dont hear the chime notifcations but the game audio went bit loud through the headphones speaker and it went back down again.

I’m having the exact same issue, the sound on discord when i mute or unmute my microphone wont play in my headset unless i spam it, after a few mute / demute the sound activate, that’s the same for call sound, connection / disconnection sound..
I'm the same as everyone else here. I bought the V2 2023 just the other day and noticed non-game applications producing no or delayed sound. It's really frustrating as I'm playing MSFS 2020 and on Vatsim. So when a controller tries to contact me, I miss it. Also getting the same frustrations with streaming as I miss all the sound notifications for follows and subs etc. Pretty poor for £160
100% Synapse issue. I uninstalled and used it without and now I have no delay issues when non game sound is triggered. Only issue though is that there is no EQ for Sound or Mic....not sure there is much point then. Unless the guys here can give some sort of response, I'm sending these back.
I have the same problem.. I managed to fix it somehow on windows 10? Upgraded to windows 11 and now the same problem again. Anyone got a fix for this or is it the synapse that has to be updated? Really annoying when i cant hear discord sound like, someone share screen, when I mute or when someone joins.
I also have the same issues but with the old version of blacksharks v2 headset, it all started after synapse updated to new version few months ago. I still don’t know how to fix it. Any solutions or fixes?
i have the new version of the headset bought it in december this is the second time i am having to attempt to resolve this issue i have tried everything suggested in this thread to no avail.
same problem. its funny how there hasn’t been a fix for this yet.
Games V Rising, enlisted, Forza 5
Disgusting behavior by Razer to have their own forum to not pay attention to especially when it seems to be such a common problem. I have a similar issue with the Kraken V3 Pro headset (~$300) where I have to disable audio enhancements for audio to even be heard otherwise if left enabled it will show in the volume mixer that sound is playing but nothing from the headset. It directly started happening when I launched synapse a few weeks ago and it auto-updated itself, restarted, boom no sound for a month since then. Absolutely ridiculous that a software update would brick EQ for our headsets, you literally could of done nothing and left it alone but no.
I found a small ”fix” if you restart your pc then start the game right way you’ll have sound also can use discord most of the time
Have this issue with Minecraft lol, it sucks so bad, except every other audio cuts out and the Minecraft just gets unbearably loud.
I’ve been troubleshooting and Googling for this for a couple months now, I’m glad to finally have found this thread!
When I had Windows 10 this didn’t happen, not sure If it was maybe a coincidence, but as the OP mentions, the only workaround is to either turn off Synapse, or disable Audio enhancements for the headset’s output, which either way, sounds horrible.
Not sure what to do at this point, It’s very frustrating that I can’t hear my Discord notifications unless I’m outside the game I’m actively playing, and this might sound stupid, but this little issue has been forcing me not to play games to avoid missing notifications, since I use Discord to work with.
This really needs an update fix!
I bought this headset (Razer Blackshark V2 Pro 2023) about 3 days ago. I have the same issue. I wonder does this problem affect all headsets? Exchanging with a new one will solve the problem or should I refund it?
