Razer Blade 14 2021 USB C not charging properly | Razer Insider
Skip to main content

I need help trying to figure this out.

The only way my laptop recognizes the USB c charger and actually charging is when I turn the laptop completely off (restart och sleepmode wont do it), plug the cable in, and the start it. If I disconnect the cable when the computer is turned on, it wont charge when reconnecting the cable.

So anytime i need to charge it with USB c i have to turn the laptop off, reconnect the charger and turn the laptop back on again...

I've reinstalled USB drivers and turned off settings so that the USB port are always powered.

I've searched around for this on reddit and other places but cant fint any solution.

The charger: https://www.anker.com/products/bundle-a2148111-a88660a1?variant=42462302732438&ref=collectionBuy&discount=WS24BUND206yue

Any ideas? Any help is much appreciated.

Cheers

Ive had the same issue with my razer charger and also third chargers and i cannot even charge when the laptop is completely shut off i can only do it when the battery is completely drained

I have this same charger, and I’m unable to get my laptop to pull a charge regardless of the port on the charger, port of the laptop or its battery state. Anker claims their IQ4 tech is fully compatible with PD 3.1. The blade requires at least a PD 3 device per its documentation, so in theory they should work.

I have tried a couple PD 3 and PD 3.1 cables with no change in behavior. I just bit the bullet and bought Anker’s $35  USB-C PD 3.1 cable. Waiting for it to arrive to see if that makes any difference.

The funny thing is, i have a crappy old Lenovo USB-C power adapter that is only 65w and not PD specced and the blade will charge from that with no issue, other than complaining about low wattage.

For what its worth, the Anker charger literally powers every other USB-C device in my house, including that Lenovo laptop. Its just the Blade that wont play nice...

This was the support reply from Anker regarding this:

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your Anker 737 Charger (GaNPrime 120W) not charging your Razer Blade 14 (2021) laptop. I understand how frustrating this can be and I'm here to help. Firstly, please ensure that the charging power the charger supports can meet your laptop's requirement for charging power. The Anker 737 Charger supports up to 120W, which should be sufficient for your Razer Blade 14 (2021) laptop.

If the charger is not working with your laptop, it could be due to a few reasons. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Try a different PD 3.1 certified cable. Sometimes, the issue could be with the cable and not the charger itself.

2. Try charging a different device with the charger and cable. This can help determine if the issue is with the charger or the laptop.

3. If your laptop's USB C port is a PD port, which can support two-way charging, it might be getting confused when connected to the charger.

Try using the USB C2 port on the charger, as it is only a power output port and should not cause such a problem. If you have tried these steps and the issue still persists, it might be necessary to initiate the warranty process if your order is still within the warranty period.

In the same boat...tried 3 different Anker PD chargers (120W, 65W, and 30W) with the Anker cord...nothing.  But if I connect my Anker battery pack with the same cord, the laptop charges up just fine.  Really weird.

So, currently, I need to pay $150 for a better back and $120 for a 100W charger so that I can have a shot of keeping my Blade 14 running on a long flight.

Anyone have any luck or any other ideas on what to try here?

I just tested this as well and I am having the same issue. I’ve tried the Anker 747 (150W) and the 737 (120W) using an anker 100W and 240W usb-c cable and none of them work.
