Tartarus Pro Disables Xbox One Controller (And PS5)

The Tartarus Pro appears to have a virtual or emulated driver that reports a USB game controller in Windows (W11 10.0.22000). That game controller seems to also replace any other game controller with a driver that has only one button, as when you open the properties under “USB Game Controllers” in Windows, you get a calibration screen that only shows button 1. Unplugging the Tartarus Pro returns game controllers to proper operation.

I came across a similar issue whilst trying to use a (bluetooth) DS4 controller, and from what I can tell Steams controller support is to blame (at least in my case). So for other peoples reference, I just disabled controller support for the games within Steam. This has to be done on a per game basis. Right click the game in Steam, go to “Properties”, then the “Controller” menu and then set the dropdown box to “Disable Steam Input”.
