Blackwidow V1&V2 tired of Dust, HaiR!, Food BITS!! | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
I love my blackwidow V1 stealth edition

But, what I was getting tired of was, every 2-3 months I had to keep cleaning my keyboard from the followings

  • Dust

  • Hair !

  • Food Bits !!

  • Worst... TOE NAIL !!!!!

Until I bought the following

Clear Silicon keyboard cover for RAZER Blackwidow

After 2 months of usage, the results are amazing

I always used the plastic cover that came with the keyboard, but this is much better

The key pressing can feel slightly weird for pro gamers, but I guess you can work something out by removing it during serious gaming

Check out the photos and vote!

But the silicon cover does need cleaning from time to time, but better than removing individual keycaps!

@Dekades whether this can be RAZERs next production in line?
I think this is why all the latest keyboards like the BW Elite and Huntsman don't have the shell, much easier to clean.
If finance was not a problem

I don't know what that surrounding texture is. Looks like Water.

So, if the keyboard is dirty, just dunk it in the water.
Don't see this as a viable option as it would interfere with the typing experience, especially on a mechanical keyboard!

I added in my first post "The key pressing can feel slightly weird for pro gamers", so that users will know the expectations.

I agree @Maximusisback. Ever since IBM M model keyboard, mechanical keys are all about that sensational feeling when it comes to typing and playing games. This is just an alternative option; if users are willing to step aside the sensational key press feeling and focus on cleaner environment, to avoid far too regular keyboard cleaning on BW V1&V2, this can be an answer.

Few of my switch plunger have lost its friction to hold the keycaps tightly, and I don't feel like removing my keycaps anymore.

For typing, I got use to it and so less dust, no more food bits and no more toe nails

All filtered on to the silicon cover, which sure needs CLEANING next month

I get it but I'd much rather clean my keyboard from time to time, I do a cleanup of my PC and my peripherals every couple of months anyway so it doesn't really bother me 😃
Everyone has their ways

Hey RAZER insiders, have you looked at your keyboard lately? messy?

I thought I'll leave an update about my silicon cover, before I go on a 3 day ski trip.

So it has been about a month, I decided to take a quick peak inside my keyboard.

So except for some minor dusts that crawled its way inside my keyboard (possibly happened when I lifted my silicon cover) the inner keyboard is still good and clean and silicon cover filtering all bits and bobs.

So as a person who uses computer every day, the silicon cover has been doing a great job of keeping my inner keyboard clean. As an average gamer I got use to it, as a typist and IT worker I do miss that sensational key press feeling from time to time. Importantly, I use my RAZER product from at home and at work and would continue to support the RAZER insider community from your daily IT issues, and hope to meet some of you inside the gaming zone.

I would like a RAZERs version of silicon cover. It's not in production, but maybe someday.

Attached are some results after a month.

I don't like the silicon covers. but maybe that's just me. I don't really have a problem with it because I try to not do anything that causes crumbs near my computer. so it Is usually pretty clean. I just don't like the silicon texture to be honest.
