Razer Kiyo; can't update firmware. Says to "Contact Support". How do I update the firmware?

I have a Razer Kiyo that has some focus/blur challenges that I thought would be useful to update the firmware for.  There are several versions ahead of its factory settings (I have 1.0.1 and the firmware is 2.3.2)… so it should be straightforward, right?

Evidently not.  The firmware tells me to Contact Razer Support, but if I try to contact support it mentions that the Kiyo I have (the OG model) is out of warranty.  So… what?  Firmware is still valid for this thing, right?  It’s still hosted on the website?  It still functions?

Shouldn’t I be able to install the firmware?

Is there any solution around this error message?

Found a solution, if you head to this site you’ll be able to find an older driver which should allow you to get the next one.

I’m having the exact same issue. Disabled all my running applications, put my cam in a different USB, I can’t get it to work for the life of me

Thanks all - I had the same issue. Need to upgrade first to v 2.0.3 as per InteractiveKeppelup195’ s link. After that all works.

Just had the same issue, guess I’m never buying a Razer product ever again.  I haven’t even had this camera for a year and Razer isn’t even going to provide a driver I can upgrade to?  Ridiculous.

https://mysupport.razer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4166/~/software-and-firmware-updates-for-razer-peripherals.  I remember having problems with this and for some reason it worked on older windows 10 computer.  Would not update on windows 11 for me.  Just one option to try.

can confirm that this solution of using the older firmware updater works. It would give you version 2.3.0 (at time of writing). Once done, use the new Firmware Updater to re-update it again to 2.3.2

I received this cam as a gift august 2022.  I started doing a lot of zoom in about a month ago, and camera isn’t working with windows 11.

I tried to upgrade firmware, but get message to contact support.   I have been going back and forth with support for three weeks.  The last message was my cam is out of warranty.

im very disappointed with lack of support.  I’m just trying to update firmware, and it seems like they are working hard to not help me.

im hoping someone can help me upgrade firmware.

thanks!

Thanks for this thread!

Finally succeeded in upgrading.
Razer has definitely lost any future business from me for this nonsense.

Hi everyone. I tried the link to get the driver but cannot find the old one to get to the newest one. Anyone able to find it and tell me where or have a file? I am desperate.

Sorry I can’t delete but found it.

Anyone at Razer Support, is there anyway you can send a link to firmware 2.0.3 so we can update without having to get software off a 3rd party site?

Never download drivers/firmware like this off of third party websites. Here’s the direct link:

Does anyone actually trust these sketch 3rd-party downloads?

Gambogerushstory963

wow razer is so bad I will never buy their products again, but I am glad that sketchy third party fixed it for me. I almost threw this perfectly working camera away to buy one from a company that will let me update the firmware (like l0git3ch). This camera is still for sale today on amazon by Razer but I can’t get firmware updates for mine because the warranty expired? And I had to sign up for this spammy service and install adware just to (not be able to) update the firmware?

@Gambogerushstory963 no sketchy third-party fix is needed. Someone linked in the thread where to download Kiyo_FirmwareUpdater_v2.03_r1 on Razer’s server.

Thanks, Pawz2142!!

This information *should* be available on the Razer Kiyo firmware page.

It's a windows 11 problem I used a windows 10 computer to do it and it worked.   I'm not sure how windows 11 people run it.

I had two option work for me in the past one was to update in windows 10 the other was windows 11 safe mode and run update.   Some other person have used a windows 10 boot disk.    The main problem is windows 11 security that blocks update.  Hopefully in future they fix this and they ship updated.
