Suggestions for Improvements in Synapse 3: Profile Management and Transition Consistency

Dear Razer Team,

I'm writing to provide feedback and suggestions based on my experiences with the Synapse 3 software and my Razer Huntsman V2 keyboard. As a longtime user of Corsair keyboards before switching to Razer, I have noticed some areas in the Synapse software that could be improved to enhance the overall user experience.

  1. Default Profile Selection: I have encountered difficulties with setting a default profile in Synapse 3. At system startup, the software tends to load the last active profile, which can complicate the Windows login process, especially when the profile contains macros. It would be extremely beneficial if users could set a standard profile that loads by default.

  2. Profile Switching Delay: The latency in switching between profiles has been noticeable and is longer than what I've experienced with Corsair's software. This delay usually lasts between 1 to 2 seconds, which can disrupt workflow. Reducing this latency would significantly improve the user experience.

  3. Asynchronous Profile Changes: Occasionally, lighting and keyboard profiles do not switch simultaneously when I transition between windows. This inconsistency can lead to confusion. Ensuring that the lighting and keyboard profiles sync up when switching would add to the intuitiveness of the software.

  4. Inconsistent Profile Switch Notification: Sometimes the pop-up notification, indicating a profile switch, doesn't show up. The inconsistency of this feature can be disorienting as I rely on these notifications to confirm profile changes. Therefore, a more reliable notification system would be highly appreciated.

I believe that these suggested improvements would greatly enhance the usability and overall experience of Synapse 3. As a loyal fan of Razer products, I look forward to these enhancements in future updates.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Best regards,

With your permission I put this here to complement.:

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to share my experience and some suggestions regarding the Razer Tartarus V2 keyboard and Razer Synapse software.

I have noticed an inconvenience that I would like to address regarding profile switching in Razer Synapse. When I use different applications with established profiles, such as "Premier" and "After Effects," and then switch to an application without a registered profile, like the "File Explorer," the keyboard does not retain the last profile used in the last application with a registered profile. Instead, it automatically switches to the previously selected profile in the Razer Synapse application.

This has become problematic for me because when I return to an application with an established profile, like "After Effects," after having been in an application like the file explorer with no profile set, sometimes the profile doesn't restore correctly and remains on the profile that was previously selected in Razer Synapse, such as "Premier." To resolve this, I have to exit the application, click elsewhere, and then click back on the application to reactivate the correct profile.

My suggestion to improve this situation is as follows: When switching from an application with a registered profile to one without in Razer Synapse, the software should retain the last profile used in the last application with a registered profile. For example, if I selected the "Premier" profile in Razer Synapse and then I am working on "After Effects," and later I go to the "File Explorer" (without a registered profile), the profile that should be retained is the one for "After Effects," which was the last profile used before moving to an application without a profile like the file explorer. It should not automatically switch to the "Premier" profile; it should only switch to the "Premier" profile when I am actively working in the "Premier" application.

Furthermore, I would like to suggest an enhancement for the Razer Synapse interface in the key customization section. It would be extremely helpful to be able to assign a custom name to each key combination I program on my Razer Tartarus V2. This would make it easier to identify each specific function, as sometimes I find it difficult to remember all the key combinations and their respective functions. For instance, if hovering over a key combination would display a small pop-up box with the custom name I assigned to it, it would be simpler to recall the purpose of each configuration.

I appreciate your attention and consideration in addressing these aspects in future software and product updates. As a loyal Razer customer, I wish for your products to continue being at the forefront of the market, and for my user experience to become increasingly satisfactory.

If you need any further information or additional examples, I would be delighted to provide them.

Thank you for your time and attention!

One more thing I would like to add to these suggestions is that the window of Synapse itself wouldn’t be considered for profile switching.

Like I have the general profile A and then B for a certain game. Now, if I’m in the game the profile switches to B. But if I want to change something of B in Synapse and I open Synapse or alt tab to it,the profile reverts to A and then I got to change to B, which takes some time, maybe too much and sometimes gets stuck and requires me to restart the program. Therefore, in that example, if I go from the game to Synapse, I’d like Synapse to remain in B and only return to A if I alttab to a different window that’s neither the game nor Synapse.

Something like “if window = synapse then no changing profile”. Dunno if that’s possible, though.
