Razer Huntsman TE a New "Standard?" | Razer Insider
Skip to main content

The release of the Razer Huntsman TE came with a few changes that many fans have been requesting. Doubleshot PBT keycaps, detachable USB-C cable and a standard bottom row. All quality of life improvements with the addition of the new Opto-Mechanical linear switches for faster-than-ever actuation.

What do you all think of these updates? Do you feel like meeting a standard gives the brand and fans more opportunities? Are you glad that linear optical switches are available now? Share your thoughts!

This is the Thread of the Week. Good engagement may get good Silver.
I bought this keyboard a few months ago. So Far I like it alot, for comfort I just use my old Blackwidow chroma V2 wrist rest. I know the Huntsman Ultimate comes with a Chroma wrist rest but it would be nice for the Huntsman TE to ship with a non-chroma wrist rest.
Please bring the standard bottom row to all of your keyboards Razer! I'm waiting for a full-size Mercury board w/ standard bottom row so I can use my white pudding keycap set on it!
Many thanks to Razer for creating this keyboard is insane. I am the happy owner of it and I would not exchange it for another.
I couldn't help to notice it but I'm pretty sure the OP has the Razer Raptor Monitor in that pic!

Just look at the coloring and the shape of the base, which is a giveaway its that monitor :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye_:
Not really my style but you guys do you! ( I am more into the huntsman elite)
please add a german layout :smile_:
I really can't appreciatate TKL keyboards but i'm glad to see how Razer is listening to his community.
Really liking the small footprint without an extra 1/2" of plastic around the keys. And the backlit secondary keys are great. And the new switches! I usually think of the TE's as the more basic version, but this one had a lot of 1st's.

TE are nice and all but I hope these technologies and features come to a relaunch of the Ornata (keypad) and more mice. A refresh of the Lancehead Wireless with optical switches to go with the new optical sensor that replaced the lackluster laser one would be amazing.

I will be picking this keyboard up, I hope it fits in the case that came with my Blackwidow TE. Speaking of which TE stuff should have cases with or for sale along side.

i was wondering too, whether the cases will fit!
I love this new compact Razer Huntsman TE design with the added features which are taken from fan request. This is indeed an awesome initiative to see that Razer takes in its fan base and creates for the fan base. :smile_:

Creating opportunities for both the brand and fans is not just meeting the standard, but has become more of an obligation for rising brands.

What keeps the fans rabid is meeting and exceeding that standard.

I don't own that many Razer products to make a case for the latter, but I can say both my 2017 Razer Phone and 2013 Razer Blade exceeded my expectations (but maybe I'm just a n00b)

  • PBT keycaps: I read some reviews complaining they are "dust magnets"

Bruh, that's what dust covers and kb bags are for.

  • Detachable cable: haven't seen the actual product but depending on construction, may come loose after prolonged use. That's what happened to my [name_redacted] keyboard but I'm hopeful Razer's will hold up.

  • Price: definitely competitive with other TKL kbs that offer much less in terms of quality & compatibility

  • Speed: there were also complaints that the Huntsman TE is "too fast". I think these updates are fantastic for the pro/ elite/ hardcore gamers, where that split nano-second really does make a 'life & death' difference.

For a casual user, I can't define what a nano-second really means to me but I'll say this - who could complain about being able to type at the speed of thought?

The Huntsman TE is definitely a step forward, and one can't go wrong by listening to the user base.

Pairing this with the new Viper mouse will be a combo that is nothing short of perfect.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk. :big_grin_:
I dont like it missing the numpad and I dont think its word the upgrade from the hunstman elite
Great keyboard.

Reliable, of high quality, minimalistic, compact and elegant.

Now we need both tactile and clicky optical switched variants.

Oh and also a notched CAPS to avoid accidental caps presses would be nice.
I love the huntsman (or huntsmen😝) and it is nice to see that you keep updating it.👍
Almost like a pocket keyboard.
For the love of christ at least introduce memory that saves basic RGB settings to a T.E keyboard. Hell even a default rainbow without Synapse will work for me.
Now just introduce a clicky version of this like a brown or purple and we gucci.
The only thing I like about this keyboard compare to my current Huntsman keyboard is the keycap. The symbols of this keyboard are actually backlit compare to mine. I still prefer the keyboards with numpad as it helps a lot in programming, creating lesson plans, calculating and for hotkey for some games.

Is that you from Mogul? >.> Gee, I've always been so jelly haha... Never won anything in there.

Heard that, Blaze? How does it feel to be a legend? 🙂 Stay cool mate

BTW, the keyboard looks fine for those who like tiny things 😉, what i like the most is detachable cable - sounds pretty comfy. Keep it up Razer 💚
Looks sweet 😍😍😍
(The bigger, the better)
Woo! That's so minimal... I'm sure those on the move would love it. Personally, I can't make do without the numpad...

Listening to the community is good, but if you base everything on what they community wants you will lose it. They did a good job finding that balance with this keyboard and I am looking forward to what else they will bring based their recent products. Also if this keyboard pops in the zsilver store, im picking it up right away. :wink_:

I just ordered one. I'm absolutely loving everything I hear, and I'm definitely one of the those who prefer tenkeyless. I'm a bit interested in whether clicky switches might be available in the future, for the huntsman TE, or linear for the old huntsman.
