Curious whether anyone else has noticed their peripherals degrading faster in humid or damp conditions. We sometimes use laptops and peripherals on site in older buildings where moisture levels are high, ventilation is poor, and condensation dampness is a common problem. Over the past couple of years we have gone through an unusual number of mice and keyboards.
The most common failures have been sticky key switches, erratic mouse tracking, and USB connectors that seem to corrode or lose contact. We are currently using Razer DeathAdder mice and BlackWidow keyboards, and while they perform brilliantly in normal conditions, regular exposure to humid environments on site seems to be cutting their lifespan significantly.
We have tried keeping the kit stored in sealed cases between uses, but the exposure during working hours still seems to cause gradual damage.
Has anyone here dealt with similar problems? Wondering whether mechanical switches handle humidity better than membrane alternatives, or whether there are specific Razer products that are more resistant to this kind of environment. Also open to any tips on protecting peripherals when you cannot control the room conditions.
