Emulating on Raspberry Pi

So I have a raspberry pi and it runs raspbian. How do I emulate retro nes games on it? How do I download the emulator and the games?Will just a windows emulater and windows games work? I mean windows games meant to be opened with the emulator?

Windows games will not work, because different CPU architecture (RPi is ARM, Windows x86/x86-64 architecture). Check special distros for emulating games (from PS1, N64, Sega Dreamcast, PSP and a LOT more) like RetroPie or Lakka. RetroPie has more emulators built-in, Lakka has a great GUI (looks like a PS3/PS4 GUI).

For example an emulator I use on my windows pc, virtuanes, will it work

VirtuaNES will not work, because it's for windows only (and different architecture, than RPi), but on RetroPie distro there's already built-in NES emulator (other than VirtualNES), so all games will work properly.
