Question about 1st Gold recharge promo

Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting gold in order to get the extras from the current promotion but I need some clarification on what needs to be done. Do I just need to buy a razer gold card (Like you can buy online) and redeem it to my account or do I need to buy the card, redeem it, and then go to gold redeem site and spend that gold I just added? Thanks!
