Tax on redemption of Razer Silver Product | Razer Insider

WTF is this? I gather silver to be able to redeem my rewards and still I have to pay 22,5 euro of

Tax on redemption of Razer Silver Product. When it was introduced? And why? If You don't what to give Your products for free just don't do it instead of adding some bullshit taxes so ppl pay the real price for Your products instead of inflated one.
This is from the start, at least 2 years ago when I ordered my first item.

Razer is giving products for free, but it's our countries who wants us to pay tax and customs fees.

Just think of it like getting a $200 keyboard for $25. (you'd pay $225 anyways since you always pay taxes) However you look at it, you're saving the full value. Actually free would be great but most companies can't do that especially once it's international shipping.

Make sure to check the FAQ's and T&C's of any programs you try out:smile_: Congrats on whatever you redeem.

I'm not sure what other countries refer this to; in NZ when you go shopping (grocery, clothes, computers etc) a Goods and Services Tax (GST) gets added to your purchase. You can read about it by clicking here.

In my terms, it is kind of like a "thank you money" for holding onto a product that I wanted to buy and thanking them for their services.

It uses similar idea of taxation, where people pay tax money to the country they are living in for their services and protection.

The coupon code you get for redeeming the zsilver; you are getting a free item, in which shipping and tax does not get included.
It's not country tax. Because there is separate position for that in my order listing and it's 1,25 euro. This is tax purely for buying stuff using silver. And it wasn't there 2 years ago because I was using silver redeem back then too and the only thing I had to pay was shipping and now there are 2 additional taxes: tax from the country product is sent to and Tax on redemption of Razer Silver Product.

Hi @Baail21,

Your taxes will be calculated upon the order once you have redeemed your Razer Silver Points. By "redeemed", that means after you make a purchase. But look at the bright side, at least that's all you have to pay for it if you use Razer Silver.
Lucky in my region, the Tax is free, but I still, need to pay the shipping cost.

Perhaps it is the first time you redeem via silver, in this case, you may consider targeting a higher value product to set off these external fees.

Of course, we all love free stuff:cool_:

Tax free? lucky

@magictim is right, aiming for bigger target to set off the external fees is kind of meaningful in psychological terms.

For example, here in NZ local computer store, Gigantus V2 (Large) cost $34.99 ($25.09 USD), in razer.com it cost $30.90 ($22.16 USD).

Of course purchasing from razer.com has additional $25 - $30 ($17.93 - $21.52 USD) delivery and tax fee. This varies depending on where you live.

So purchasing 1x Gigantus V2 (Large) from razer.com with all additional fees (shipping, tax, zsilver redemption fee); why not just shop at a local computer store?

Also, you can only use 1 zsilver redeem coupon code per purchase.

So smart way to shop using zsilver coupons is to target a big prize, then (optional) add additional things like mouse pad or something small value so other additional fees seem like 'nothing'.
It's not my first time using silver and previously I didn't have to pay all this. And clearly as visible on screen this is tax for using silver, not local tax. So You are paying because You are using code, which is ridiculous.

This tax is refundable if you regularly pay taxes. I had to pay 35 euros in taxes apart from the 10 Euro shipping fee and I can just claim the 35 Euros back when I send my tax returns. Also this tax system is new and was introduced so that people cant claim a refund for tax purposes without actually paying the tax in the first place. Before you could get a product for a 10 Euro shipping fee and the tax of 30-35 Euros could be claimed back even though you didnt pay for it.

I mean if you dislike the system you can always stop using it, and even so your original claim that Razer is giving out free stuff is also incorrect. Silver is meant to be a rewarding currency where you get rewarded for being a good/ active member of the Razer community. Seeing it as free stuff is wrong and I would still encourage you to see the bright side where you pay less than 50 Euros for an item worth 200 Euros.

I guess the complaint here is that you didnt have to pay before so why now, but just remember Razer isnt getting these taxes, your government is. There are still regions in the world where these taxes dont exist (like my country) but if you have a problem with taxation you can always take it up with the representative of your government and lobby for a change in the policy.
You are right. I'm done with this program. I was saving up silver for almost a year and was happy that I can finally afford something, but then my day was ruined. In Poland You can't just write off this taxes so the cost of the product I wanted is now the same as offered by sellers in my country. So why bother being active every day?
Just got hit by this too...
5 months ago I used the points and I did not have such a fee. And now I have! I haven't changed the country, but I don't know if it's because of that. But it hurt
I received headphones and consulted this with my accountant. It's not deductible tax. So for everyone that will find that topic in the future - Razer is making You pay for your free reward. Don't let anyone fool you.

Not true. Your country makes you pay for your free reward from Razer, not Razer itself.
Again, it's not country tax. It's not even marked like that on receipt so stop defending Razer. Country tax has separate column on receipt and is much lower.
Well in my case (and in my country) I had to pay tax and customs for a free product. The only money that I gave away was for tax and customs.
Hello, does anyone know how to redeem more than 1 product for your shipment? Just let me put a promotional code, spend about half a million razer silver in exchanges. But they can only send me one item at a time, I want to save the shipping cost.

Not sure if that is possible, at least it wasn't 1-2 years ago. Razer website allows only one promotional code per order, and there is one order per shipment. So I think you'll have to pay shipment for each product you get through Razer Silver.
Ah, it happened for me too at my last redeem, but since i ordered them in UK i thought its about it leaving the EU. But it seems that the taxes have been introduced for most of the countries, does anyone know if there are still countries who do not have those taxes?

A friend made couple of Razer Silver redeems in Germany, and he didn't have to pay anything (or nearly anything). Don't know why is that. Perhaps because big country like Germany has a huge number of orders daily so their customs can't process every package?

It's not true. Order to Berlin:

Steuer auf das Einlösen eines Razer Silver Produkts 17,56 €

Versand 10,00 €

When I ordered Kraken Tournament headphones, I didn't have any fees. Now they have added tax and shipping cost. Poland or Germany, it makes no difference.

Ok, that's something new.

But, it's still way cheaper what I encountered when ordered free (with Razer Silver) Nommo Chroma speakers: I had to pay 40 € for shipping and 60 € for tax and customs. So yes, I've paid 100 € for a "free" product.

When you compare this to what you paid, you are the lucky one :smile_:
Ugh just have this now too. What a thing to add.

Ngl was extremely frustrating reading this thread and the amount of replies to OP talking about "oh hey this is normal tax, it's your government or country that gets it" etc despite the OP clarifying numerous times and even attaching a screenshot.

This is a NEW charge they have decided to throw on. Have redeemed plenty of times with Razer Silver before and this is first time this charge has been added. Very disappointed.
