New Razer Kraken Headset = GARBAGE!

Ok guys, wtf did you do to the kraken?! I had the last model and it has been great, but this new THX model is complete and utter trash. The audio sounds so muffled and garbled and quiet, even at max volume. This garbage headset is going back to the store TOMORROW unless someone can tell me what super-secret setting I'm missing that brings back the good quality of the old headsets.
Look, I want to believe the headset is just defective, but these were brand new in box, both ears are working, and they sound like total shit. Razer may have just lost me as a customer...
Returned them today, went with HyperX II and the quality is suburb.
