Hi! User experience preference. Chrome is the only place where I see tabs similar to Synapse's new design. For better or worse, I now expect tabs to all function like Chrome's tabs. That includes missing interaction patterns such as:
  • Middle-mouse clicking a tab to close it.
  • Drag-and-drop to reorder tabs.
  • Having the clickable "X" present on each tab even if it isn't the active tab.
  • Ctrl+Tab to go to the tab on the right and Ctrl+Shift+Tab to go left.
I don't have enough Razer products (wow, that's something I never thought I'd say) to fill up the tab bar to overflow, but I really enjoy side scrolling on tabs. I can also see how a tabbed interface may become tedious for folks with many many products. Especially if tabs can't be pinned or reordered.

In Synapse or Chroma apps - I'd make the tabs a bit wider, so if you're on active tab, the X (close) button doesn't cover it's name: If there's not enough space for tabs while many of them are opened - shrink them to the current size (as on screenshot). Or make an arrow on the right side to display list of all tabs like in Chrome: + interaction as @Lafar said (alt-tabbing, closing with middle button etc). //EDIT: I've tried new Synapse at home with more devices plugged in, and there are arrows on the both side so you can scroll left/right to see all other non-visible tabs:

Hey @Lafar
  • Middle-mouse clicking a tab to close it.
    • One of my shortcut wishlists that I'm working towards to! Consider Ctrl + W too.
  • Drag-and-drop to reorder tabs.
    • I will put into consideration
  • Having the clickable "X" present on each tab even if it isn't the active tab.
    • Already in the works ;), waiting to be implemented! Your feedback would help to push up the priority!
  • Ctrl+Tab to go to the tab on the right and Ctrl+Shift+Tab to go left.
