Barely used Kraken ear cushions peeling

So I have a pair of Kraken “7.1” headphones I bought a few years back. I wear them once in a while, infrequently tho they are years old now. And now the rubber/plastic on the cushions is peeling everywhere, making a gross mess. Lame. This material has clearly decomposed due to its (arguably minimal) age, not wear. Has Razer improved the materials used? Or do new models likewise peel?
