I solved this problem. You need to check the “allow sound enhancement” box in the properties of your headphones and the properties of 7.1 surround sound and set 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD quality) on your headphones and 24 bit on 7.1, after which the headphones should start playing sound in 7.1 volume.
