Razer Synapse vs 7.1 Surround Software

I just bought some Kraken TE's and the instructions in the box said to download the 7.1 software from Razer I went ahead and did this, and then entered an activation code. Later a popup appeared and Synapse was recommended to install so I went ahead and did that too. Now I'm curious if I need one versus the other? the 7.1 doesn't have THX options for me and actually all the output devices are greyed out now after I installed the synapse software. Also, there is an option for THX option upgrade on the 7.1 but I thought it already comes with the headphones? I'm very confused.

    I'm not completely sure but does synapse show the thx surround sound? i think the thx app is only if you are using the headphones in AUX mode. and USB is for synapse. lmk if this helped!

    Synapse shows THX and is enabled. I have it hooked up via USB. I just ended up removing the 7.1 surround sound app. Now my microphone doesnt work but thats another matter
