Seconded, other companies have been very forward leaning and have dedicated sites dealing with this issue, Razer has been silent.

Thanks for the bump.. Found this article which perhaps answers the question but there has been a similar question on Reddit regarding potentially loosing the 7.1 surround sound if you don't use the optical cable. Both articles are below and look forward to someone confirming. https://www.polygon.com/2020/9/11/21429424/playstation-5-xbox-series-x-s-next-generation-console-audio-headsets-headphones-surround-sound https://www.reddit.com/r/razer/comments/g16nw1/xbox_razer_thresher_ultimate_owners_need_your_help/

Thanks for the links. I did some testing on my setup last night without the optical cable. It seems you do lose 7.1, but because of the way the spatial audio works (Windows Sonic, Dolby Atmos and DTS: X for headphones) you can use spatial audio, as it just needs stereo headphones. I prefer spatial to 7.1 so that works for me, but if you want 7.1 then it's still an open question, and it's pretty unsat if this is the only option as the product really should be able to do 7.1 on the new console.

Response from Razer support who confirmed it will work :) Razer Thresher Ultimate - inquiry Response By Email (Rubelyn O.) (02-Oct-2020 02:14 PM) Hi Martin, We have some great news for you. Our relevant team has just confirmed that the Razer Thresher Ultimate does work with XBOX Series X. My apologies on the misinformation from our last email. Take care and have a good day! All the best, Rubelyn Razer Technical Support Customer By Service Email (Martin Andrews) (29-Sep-2020 01:26 PM) Can you confirm if this is going to be tested with the Series X or not please? If so when? It was initially advertised that it would be compatible with the new console but all statements of this have now been removed from your website which I think is a bit misleading on your part. As an example, Astro have said for their headsets that are in a similar boat that rely on the optical port on the Xbox one are going to release a firmware update so they can use voice and surround sound on the series x and full compatibility by utilising the USB connection. I’d be disappointed if razer didn’t follow suit. Thanks

I believe so! Response By Email (Rubelyn O.) (05-Oct-2020 04:43 PM) Hi Martin, You should be able to utilize the full feature of the headset with the Xbox Series X. All the best, Razer Technical Support Customer By Service Email (Martin Andrews) (02-Oct-2020 02:33 PM) That is great news, thank you confirming. Do you know if it will require any firmware update for this? And also if it will still have full functionality and be able to use Dolby Atmos with the Xbox Series X please? Thanks Sent from my iPhone

I'd like to know as well. I'd love to set my headset up on my Series X finally, but I'd like to know the proper settings to change and if I need to update the headset's firmware, etc?
