Kishi - Note 10+ issues, Android 12

Hello there! I recently got a Kishi for on-the-go play (literally today haha). Whenever I plug my note 10+ into the controller I get a pop up stating 'High-Power USB device connected' Followed by 'Cannot access to this device. Connected device needs external power supply.' However I was pretty sure the Kishi ran off my phone's battery supply? I've tried restarting my phone, I have no issues charging my phone with any charger and could certainly use some suggestions :( The Kishi app won't detect the controller either.
