Hello. I'm trying out the BlackShark V3 Pro headset currently, but I'm having some discomfort on the ears. I think the depth of the earpads is not enough, allowing the cushioned driver stuff to touch the ear causing discomfort.

Do you recommend picking up some slightly thicker and wider aftermarket earpads, or just going with a different headset all together?

I'm pretty happy with this headset otherwise. It seems to be an upgrade over my HyperX Cloud II on which the microphone finally fully died. Battery life seems good, modes are cool, ANC is cool (although I can hear faint heartbeat, it does kill tons of fan noise which is a huge win), wireless is great.

My only complaints are the above comfort issue, and the THX stuff is basically unusable. Also, there are some annoying Plex issues where the PC thinks it's a 5.1 system, so you won't hear sound unless you are using THX but the THX sounds worse than stereo.

What would you do?

I just bought it today, and it hurts my ear as well. They need to design the ear cups like the Razer Kraken Tournament Edition; because it's deep, it does not touch your ear at all. It is the most comfortable headset I've ever worn in my life, and it is still comfortable to this day. I bought mine in 2019 and still have it. I would still be using it if my mic hadn't broken when I accidentally dropped it. If you could add that back to the design, a lot of people would be happier. We are not the only ones experiencing these issues.

I bought the Blackshark V3 Pro  for $150, after having the Blackshark v2 for over 6 years. The V3 is hands down the most discomforting headphones i’ve ever worn in my entire life. The outside of my ears are starting to actually bruise from me wearing them. Whose bright idea was it to have the customers ears touch the hard plastic. The ear muffs are not even a whole inch thick. As soon as you put them on you literally feel your ears touching the hard plastic on the inside of the ear muffs, they didnt even put padding on the inside, which makes zero sense to me. I have always purchased razer headphones and their mice, The V3 has amazing audio and the mic is really really good. But the discomfort just outweighs the pros. Very Very disappointing

If you guys haven’t noticed yet, you’re paying a premium to have a razer logo on your devices, not because it’s a premium product….
