Graphics cards for photo and video editing

So many graphics cards to choose from that my head is spinning. I intend on building a razer but I don't want to short-change myself and I also don't want to spend more than I have to. The reason I say that is I'm not a gamer or ever will be. My sole purpose for this laptop is content creation - photo and video editing. That means I'm going to get the 4k screen. Anyone have any suggestions on which cards I should be looking at?

    On 2021 model 4K option only on Advanced 15 oled 3080 and pro 17 3080, on 2020 not sure if still on sale on Razer store but on base 15 2070maxq model it has 4K Oled beside advanced 15 2080maxq and on pro 17 2080 super maxq 4K ips. So depends your workload need, if nothing extensive previous base 15 Oled would do the work, but keep in mind the processor is 6 cores compared to 8 on advanced and pro, on photo editing maybe slower, how much not sure since I’m not editor.

    I only edit simple videos, which one will work and is cheap?
    Due to shortage of GPUs and silicon chips, shopping for GPU has become difficult. Even shopping at places like ebay and craigslist, the sellers are using the idea of short supply and extreme demand as a way to sell their second hand and new GPUs at ridiculous prices. Any GPUs can accomplish video editing, but of course the cheaper the GPU is, the size of its VRAM, number of CUDA cores and clock speed is in question.
    • Depending on the magnitude of the graphical aspects of your video; GPUs with low VRAM will be a heavy burden for its video editing.
    • Low the number of CUDA & Tensor cores and clock speed is, it takes longer for the video image processing to occur.
    My friend works at NZ WETA Workshop as a video editor; he is working with a NVIDIA Quadro RTX 8000 which he says, "nothing like it". Before his employment he did use GTX 980 TI, which he mentioned as "had a good days, but now it is a 'Sloth' compared to Quadro". It is difficult to choose. I had my days of budget build and best of the best build. Use https://www.techpowerup.com to look up GPUs and gather the information on the followings and understand what your budget is and seek out what you can afford.
    • CUDA & Tensor cores
    • Base & Boost Clock speed
    • VRAM size
    If speed is less of a priority, then focus on the VRAM size.

    Try Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti it's one of the best graphics card for photo and video editing as far as i know. :)
