Horrible screws on the brand new Razer Blade 18

I have had the exact same problem - I just received my Razed Blade 18 a bout 2 weeks ago. I ordered upgraded M2 drives and at least 4 of the screws are stripped almost completely. I had to order a micro extration kit to even get the screws out. These screws and the standoffs are the absolute worst I have even seen. 

I also agree with the post above - for almost $5000 for this laptop this should not be an issue - This is purely a poor quality design that passed through QA. A lot more time should have been spent here. I have memory coming today to upgrade from 32gb to 64gb and I had to use the screw extractor to get 4 of the screws out, needless to say that until I get replacement screws I am going to be 4 short of the back cover - absolutely ridiculous!

Same here, Razer Blade 17, gave up after wasting 2hours. Screw for SSD doesn’t move. How can you give such terrible quality screws, that breaks instantly with the same screwdriver that open cover, we didn’t buy cheap laptop, we paid for premium, why we have terrible srews? How much you saved on those screws 20 cents?

Apparently the problem is general and happens to everyone who upgrades the machine, in my case a 2021 Blade bought at the end of 22 and I have exactly the same problem, what was well seen at Razer was to come here and have a solution for everyone and not sending it to the Support time, a company that appreciates its customers when it makes a mistake, and knows enough to admit and find the best solutions and involve everyone

Exactly, especially with how much they can expect to save on this type of screws like 20 cents? As manufacture they have different prices, as they buy in bulk, and they go with  LOWEST QUALITY SCREWS for 3-5k Euro machines, seriously? I doubt you can have anything worse, than screw, that you can not even unscrew once….

I am not into sending emails to Razzer because they are the worst support I interacted with. Before you are allowed to contact them, they ask you literally like 20 questions, BIOS version, etc. I had issues with excel and web browsers on my laptop, and pluging 2nd screen, games worked well, but I use it for work as well. I send them 40 different videos of frezzes, etc. They told me it’s because of 3rd part software installed (So Microsoft excel and google chrome and Firefox)

Their strategy is to overwhelm you with questions AND make idiot out of you. It all works now, but I had issues for like year or two, it was because of poor drivers, over time they made it work. Games always worked well, but I use Laptop also for work. Every single person I interacted with had terrible Razer Customer Care experience, people are overall happy with their laptops so I really don’t know. Those screws is really terrible costs saving. Feels like apple with their screens that are super easy to scratch in one place in the middle of the screen, where you can’t do anything because of “mechanical damage of long nails” for their highest models.

Frankly from business perspective I can even understand more apple approach, than Razer saving on screws, and their customer care approach to someone who was buying from them for years for more than ten years…. If not that incident I would be buying 2nd Razer Black Widow keyboard, but because of that approach I am going to buy Crossair K100, as for their laptop still not sure, somehow many people finds them high quality, which might be true, because even though they were doing idiot out of me, it was clearly their fault with software, not hardware. 

I personally have not had that problem with the screws. Maybe I was especially careful. I’m sorry to hear so many had a problem. I added a 4tb ssd. Now I want to upgrade the ram, but where is the ram. The innards of the rb 18 don’t correspond to the Razer video or instructions. Can anyone advise me on how Ro upgrade the ram on the 18?

If you pay for quality product, and you use correct tool, how delicate you are should NEVER been an issue.

Have you tried different models video? That could be helpful. I used different video of RB than I have and it was fine.

same problem here on blade 18 (both back plate and SSD screws)- it looks like the screws are designed to fail -  the SSD screw for instance is much weaker than any other screw holding the parts together inside.  this is completely unacceptable for such a product at this price tag. RAZER, what is the solution...

Brand new Razer 14, and exact same issue. 4 of the screws on the backplate are stripped already. I've never seen anything like this, especially on a $4000 machine. 

I'll take this to a local computer shop, and if they can't sort it quickly, this is getting returned.

This is the sort of small detail that is absolutely inexcusable to make it through QA. 

To make matters worse Razer does not even bother to respond… they lost a customer

Just for the next person to find this thread and need the screw type. Asked for Razer Blade 15" Base (2021) but think they’re all the same screws
