New member into Razer from Alienware

Hello everyone. This is my first time posting here and I have bought my first Razer laptop. I am very pleased with it, but at the same time, I do not know how reliable this can be as I has several bad experiences with most laptops from different brands.

I have got a brand new Mercury White, 144hz, RTX 2060, 16 GB, 512 SSD, and an advanced model from Best Buy. I was told by the representative there that this laptop and its brand used high quality components. But, another representative from Microsoft store have told me Razer tend to has a lot of problems, especially with the heat, since the laptop is too thin.

So, I do not know if I have made a right choice to get this laptop or, better, i rather heard it from a user who has been using Razer products for a while.

Let me know and thank you in advanced! I am excited to see what Razer has to offers!

Also concerned with the heat from a thin unit like this. It’s extremely nice though. What was your experience with the Alienware , what model did you have or looked at and why did you switch?

Blade is first gaming laptop in thin light categories, well gaming laptop in MacBook Pro from factor. Now since nvidia brought maxq architecture with downclocked performance for thin light categories, this category is becoming more competitive which is great imo. Costumer has more options now but keep in mind to maintain heat on this thin cassis a lot manufactures crippled it more. I find since 2017, Razer keeps the best gpu choice with great improvements every update, now Blade use highest tdp gpu that keep it on top performance on its class. I saw often on several forums other brands users keep asking bios from Blade gpu because they want to flash it for better performance, though it won’t reach that since mostly their hardware doesn’t support it. The Blade 15 2018 still performs well and with help Razer Core and a right “touch” I almost get 4Kg dual ac adapter bulky powerful Alienware 51m with full 2080, almost:smile_: need more work:wink_:

That’s a great unit the bios is being asked from other brands users that has lower gpu tdp. It sit on top rangking 2060 with 8750H Laptop. Both on timespy and Firestrike (ignore 1st place on FS, that guy seems FS addict;)) atm.

Congrats! I purchased exactly the same device 10 days ago and the difference between it and the Asus ROG G750JX it replaced is like night and day. First thing I would advise is to relax. While there is no way to predict reliability/longevity in a laptop, everything about the new Blade 15 indicates that it was built to last with proper care and maintenance. Think about who the Microsoft rep works for? Do you think he may have been a little bummed-out that you chose Razer over one of his company's products? Sure he was! I would never expect a manufacturer's rep to say anything good about the competition's products. It's pretty obvious he never used the laptop that you and I bought because if he had, he wouldn't have much to bad-mouth about the new Blade 15's heat management. Mine does a fantastic job. The only time it gets warm is when I'm gaming on it and when it does, the fans do a fine job of keeping it cool without ever getting excessively loud. Next time you see that rep in the Microsoft store, as him why Microsoft conceded the gaming/content creator laptop market to companies like, Razer, Asus, MSI, etc.

I sell computers + parts for a living (along with a few ROG and MSI laptops) and I can't tell you the amount of times people have come in looking to do a build after their Alienware laptop died on them. I've never heard of any issues personally about the Razer Blade though, only seen some reviews and people complaining online without having actually bought the laptop. I'm not a huge gaming laptops person, but I know Linus (LinusTechTips on YT) used the older model as his daily driver for quite a while, and if I were to buy a gaming laptop it's probably the one I'd go for.
