Hello!
I'm planning to buy the Base edition of a new Razer Blade 15 and I was wondering if it has this high pitched fan whistling. I see a lot of reports about this problem from the Advanced edition owners, but only one or two about Base edition. Why is that? Does it mean that Base edition is free of that problem?
I'm asking because I just returned Zephyrus G15 because of that issue. It is unbelievably annoying.
Thank you!

Hi there, annoying fans can’t be avoided on this category gaming laptop since they try to output the heat the best the system can. However you can always reduce it, like for example by modifying the cpu performance on several ways since the cpu with smaller die than gpu that make the system hot is the reason why fans behavior can be annoying.
I don’t have base nor advanced 2021 model but on advanced 2018 model, it can produce high pitch whining if I put fans rpm on max nor fans run on max performance due cpu hot temperature for having the turbo boost on max, I reduce it by undervolting the cpu and using balance mode with lower fans rpm. If you want better acoustic, on titles with FPS difference isn’t so huge between turbo boost on and off, disabling turbo boost in my case solved even that annoying fans noise and give cooler temperature. One rock hits 2 birds, a phrase that I think on every language exist for this matter.

Thanks for the reply! Yes, noisy fans are unavoidable, but what I'm afraid of is a high-pitched-ear-piercing sound that I had with G15. It happened at any fan speeds with GPU fan specifically. Unless it doesn't attack me with high frequency sound - I'm okay with it.

According this review (11:39) fans even on high profile isn’t annoying and apparently it doesn’t goes anywhere above 50dB where on my 2018 advanced model the whining starts from around above 50 db, but again he mentioned apparently he isn’t so sensitive to such noise and i think me too since gaming sounds would mostly cover it, or maybe because I don’t use max synapse profile that push cpu to its max limit.
Hi there,
I thought that the Razer Blade 15 (2018) was also defective due to high-pitched noise when the fan rotated at high speed, but this product in 2021 was even worse and headache with a terrible noise like a whistle as soon as the fan started to rotate.Currently, due to Cobid-19, it costs a very high shipping cost of over $400 to return, so I can not return it, but I would like to repair it.

Are you talking about Base or Advanced model? I heard the reports only about Advanced model.
For those who are wondering: Yes, Razer Blade 15 Base (2021) does have that high pitched noise and it's not totally horrible, but still annoying and can easily cause a headache. Returning it.
The ringing/whistling noise is real on my brand new Razer Blade 17" 4k. I don't care about the loud whooshing sound of the fan, but the high pitch noise really pierces my ears over time. I contacted Razer's support and they told me that I need to update Windows & other software (c'mon man!). I did what they've told, though thinking it's stupid since this is more like a hardware or design issue, and none had worked.
I then complained this issue to Amazon and they shaved $381 off my bill immediately. Even with such a nice discount....I still decided to return the laptop two weeks later due to the high pitch noise during gaming. Razer tech suggest I lower the performance setting to make the fans work less. But I'm not paying $3,800 to underutilize this laptop's hardware capability.

very high pitched, it's VERY annoying. Had to put thermal pads around the fan to stop them from killing my brain. That on top of the fan noise at idle when a display is plugged in.
SO annoying, Razer or Amazon don't care. Loud fans? why did you buy a gaming laptop.

It’s not to low the performance maybe but more to run it cooler like using balance mode instead max performance, it’s normal the fans will act to the high temperature and run at max that might produce that annoying sound. I’m on advanced 2018 using it on balance with cpu undervolting (sorry this might not exist on 2020/2021 model due plundervolt, you can only disable turbo boost like ryzen mobile CPUs) it’s not annoying, more to wuush sound than high pitch, and yes high pitch can be noticed on max fans if I set it manually, I think it’s because of cooling room limitation since both Razer blade 15 and pro 17 only has one main heat exhaust under the screen, so on Max Fans high pitch sound due minimum cooling room inside.
