RTX2080 Super max q on Razer Blade Pro 2020 issue

When did the GPU start to exhibit the boot issue that you described? As far as I know, the RTX 2080 Super Max-Q should only take over when needed by the system. The Intel HD graphics will be the default GPU for tasks that require little to no GPU processing. That said, there shouldn't be a need to disable/reenable the card. Would you mind putting up a short clip of what happens when you launch a game or an app that uses the dedicated GPU from a system reboot?

The issue pops up randomly so I didn't record. However, there was a time I used the MSI afterburner to benchmark the GPU. The usage of the GPU hit 100% but only 1.5 GB of vram was enabled, resulting in terrible frame rate. When launching a game like rdr2 at high settings, the frame rate is like 10-20. When the card is working properly, the frame rate is like 60-70 on average. Also, whenever I try to update my graphic driver, it also says the driver is incompatible with the windows or the hardware. It has nothing to do with overheating either, because when it does this the laptop stays cool and fans are not reving up. My guess is that there is some missing manufacturer updates from Razer, which is probably still under development. Edit:

That's the thing, the system seems having trouble understanding when I need the power.

I just got my brand new razer blade pro 2020 with 300hz refresh rate. I tried to install the latest graphic driver through Geforce Experience but it says the originally installed 442.53 is the latest version available, which is clearly not true. I tried to download directly through the Nvidia website but the new driver is incompatible with the Windows installed somehow. Moreover, the dedicated RTX 2080 super max-q refuses to start at boot. I have to disable the card and re-enable it to start it every time I boot up my laptop if I want to use the card. The system recognizes the card and it works perfectly fine after I re-enable it. I believe it has something to do with the firmware or the bios that may have created a conflict somewhere during the boot-up process. Please let me know if there is any resolution to this problem.

Is there anything new games optimization on latest update you need? If no, I’d stay with version that’s greatest for your model, new drivers might bring some improvements but might also bring some issues that’s well known things on windows PC I believe. I saw also users saying similar things on enthusiast forum, I think he just use what the best driver he can use and this also effect older Pro model. So I would wait if I were you and want to get the latest. I’ve actually other assumption about this, because Blade pro use higher tdp than normal Maxq GPUs maybe not all drivers would go well with it, I might be wrong about this though.

GPU hits high % is grea,t vram usage has nothing to do with it, it depends the games and the setting. And 10fps on RDR2 with 2080 super maxq might because thing that mentioned above driver doesn’t optimized for the hardware.

App optimization is usually half of the problem. You will want to play with your in-app settings to get the best results. Also, you can manually set which GPU your apps will run on via the NVIDIA Control Panel>Manage 3D Settings>Program Settings.

Many thanks, the problem seems go away with the latest windows update. I still cannot upgrade my NVIDIA driver but the laptop performs as intended now. I believe it may has some issues with the order of installation: windows update, NVIDIA drivers, etc. Thanks for your help.
