I was a day 1 buyer of this product because the other versions were amazing, from the original belkin n52 all the way up to the latest versions.
This one should NOT have been called a Tartarus at all… this feels and looks nothing like the beloved line.
You guys took away the feel that made the tartarus feel amazing, it is not ergonomic in any way, and some of the buttons are just not accessible. This was a huge let down as is finding where the fingers naturally rest.
The base is solid and it does not move which is highly amazing. Solid..
The joystick is everything we have been wanting for this device for years now, props on that….but…. we can’t change the angle of how it operates in the software. ie. a lot of us push the stick forward for lets say the W or Up arrow, you are now locked into just pressing the analog stick up(left) with how your hand sits on it. so now we are stuck with having to use it as a hat? (I read somewhere there it is also the right stick and not the left stick on the controller, not sure how true that it is I didn’t make it that far before putting this back in packaging.)
The button layout feels highly unnatural and confusing, what made this product awesome was it was a huge leap and learning for people coming from controller to getting into mouse and key.
The hardware used in this is highly impressive and what you can do with it, but the software oh boy lets get into it.
Synapse 4… Install… immediately wants to take over you pc and do a lot of unnecessary things… I thought I clicked just to install this but it installed cortex tried clearing my ram...lighting went a little crazy etc. I could not easily find where to start changing my keybinds.. I did find it and after I waded through the ads the unnecessary bloat (90% of what installs is bloat) I was able to go straight to the stick and nope, no angle adjustment… this is where I stopped and put it back into its packaging. The pad felt weird and the thumb placement was way off for the stick..
Guys… people at Razer… listen to me. This should have been the biggest and easiest WIN of your company EVER. Instead you gave the fans this.
You destroyed the perfect design that made the n52(which was perfect back in the day) and tossed us this.
All you had to do was give us the hardware upgrades of the switches, actuations of the switches the thumbstick etc in the same old classic tartarus model. And maybe a small hat switch above the joystick. I see people complaining about the spacebar for jump etc, I never used as a jump because I used the switch in previous model to move so I couldnt jump without pulling my thumb off the dpad.
And can buyers get a simple keybind software to set this up?
This needs a whole remodel. And anyone who has purchased this should be able to swap it for an updated one… this did NOT get approved by gamers and this is not for gamers.
Now I have been using the n52, tartarus models for years… and this is not either line of these products.
I felt taken advantage of from the second I installed synapse. you should be ashamed of yourselves.
