Trying to choose a new headset for my boyfriend

My boyfriend was using some very old Razer Kraken phones, but he is in dire need of a new pair. I already heard him say he was very happy with them and wanted new Kraken ones. He's the type to usually stick to what he already likes and knows

I wanted to gift him new ones and I've seen some reviews about Kraken v3 and v4 and they were ok, but not great. Problem is I know jack shit about computers, phones and whatnot and I need some help deciding what to get. I'm getting confused with all the technical terms and scared to get something too different and him not liking it so I could really use some help

Because of his schedule he's more of a casual gamer, not very much into FPS and likes to just chat and play with his friends too. So I don't think there's really a need for ultra quality sound, but good enough quality and a good phone would be great

Should I just get a safe kraken model since I know he likes it? Should I try a different line? What would you recommend?

    Kraken V4 Pro is so good that’s what I have and I love it, but it’ll set you back a lot. That’s because it’s the only one with haptics (vibrates with bass).

    Kraken V4 (not Pro) is about half the price, and has no haptics.

    You might wanna look at Barracuda (cheapest). That’s what I use at work and listening to music during commute and lunch. The bass is also really good.

    All of the above come with mic so he can chat with friends so it just comes down to how much you have to dish.

    Coming from the Kraken Ultimate and Nari Ultimate, I can just recommend the Blackshark V3 Pro or in general the Blackshark models. The earpieces just fit way better and more natural over your ear than the Krakens round shape. Also, the microphone is way better than on any other model I´ve had before. Before people actually had said that I sound like a robot but with the Blackshark it sounds almost like a small studio mic. 

     

    Soundwise I would say it depends what you/he prefers. The spatial sound on all of the headsets are fantastic. But there is a huge difference in Bass and Treble. For example I found that the Kraken and Nari had a better Bass and more depth probably due to the haptics/vibration, but the Blackshark has a more clear soundprofile. I guess you can change those things in the EQ settings but that´s something I had noticed out of the box. 

     

    In the end of the day it also depends on your budget, so the best advise I can give you is to just take him to a store and let him play around with the available options. So you don´t pay for something that you guys may not be happy with. :)
