Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this. When I first got my Viper 8khz wired, it was working fine, didnt need to install Synapse 3 because I already have the Blackshark. A day later, the mouse disconnects randomly and causes my game (DoTA2) to crash. I tried searching online and did every fix out there from fixing USB ports, power management and finally found a YouTube video of the mouse disconnecting when lifted off the mousepad. I returned the mouse thinking it was a hardware issue and got a replacement mouse.

The replacement mouse worked just fine and didn't have that issue. This lasted for about 3 weeks when last night the mouse disconnected again. This time not only does it disconnect instantly when lifted off the mousepad, it does by itself after about 15 seconds when connected. Tried it on the PC and a laptop, same issue. Is there a software or hardware problem with this mouse? I find it extremely unlucky to have 2 of the same mouse having the same problems.

It looks like a hardware issue.
Try to bend mouse cable in few places, if it's damaged in some place, it'll disconnect the mouse on the cable movement (the most exposed places are near the mouse, and on the other side near USB plug).
Hi, I got the exact same issue just yesterday. I'm also using Viper 8kz wired. I thought my mouse went dead and after connecting it to my laptop, it went ON. That's where I discovered that the issue happens when the mouse is lifted. Razer logo disappears and mouse not responding. The DPI stage light is blinking though. I don't think this is a cable or synapse issue. I tried bending the cable left and right without lifting the mouse, it still works. It would only stop when lifted. I did test on laptop(without synapse) and my PC(with Synapse), issue happens on both.

My mouse is just 4 months old. I'm not sure if i can have this replaced.

I went back to replace the mouse a second time as it was under warranty. So I'm basically onto my 3rd mouse.
It should still be under warranty if its only been 4 months, I mean Razer comes at a pretty premium price so we shouldn't expect anything short of satisfactory from them if we buy a mouse and it doesn't perform its basic function.
What I did differently was getting a brand new mousepad. I highly doubt this affects anything but I'm only 2 weeks into the new mouse and there hasn't been any problem and its too early to tell. I wish I had a solution but I don't.

Also, have you installed the firmware update? It was designed to correct a random disconnect issue related to the discharge of static electricity and can be downloaded via this Razer Support page:

Yes I did for all 3 mouses. Didn't stop the first 2 from randomly breaking down out of nowhere.

I had mine replaced. report it to razer so they can send a new one if it's still under warranty
