Three years ago, I was gifted a Razer Blade 15 (2022) when I started college. Since then, I have had NOTHING but issues with it. This laptop was specifically chosen because it would allow me to play games while off at school where I could not have my PC, while also maintaining the demanding programs I have to use for my coursework. This specific laptop was also chosen for the hardware it contained, as it was some of the best of the best at the time, and would last me a good couple of years.
After just two years, my battery died out on me and Razer would not supply me with a new one. Any repair shop I have taken my laptop into has been unable to get in contact with Razer to get a new battery, and I was forced to purchase one that was not directly from Razer which put my warranty at risk.
Currently, I am facing an issue that has been present from day one, but has worsened with use over time. The 2022 edition of the Razer Blade 15 CANNOT keep itself cool. I understand that Razer is obsessed with the visual of a slim, sleek gaming laptop, but visuals are no good if the cooling systems cannot keep up with the hardware demand. As a computer science student, I spend a great amount of my time coding for classes. My Blade cannot keep up with the IDE we use for assignments. It has caused my laptop to get extremely hot, to the point of genuine danger to me as the user.
Sometimes, my laptop overheats from playing a game that isn't very demanding at all. No amount of cooling pads or extra fans helps. I am constantly opening up my laptop and double, even triple checking that my fans are clean. The device itself gets so hot that there have been multiple occasions that I have sustained minor burns from touching the laptop casing.
I adore this laptop, and it holds great sentimental value to me, but having to keep my hands covered and off of the laptop at all times when gaming or doing homework is just no longer sustainable. I cannot afford to take the laptop into a professional repair shop at this point, because I need to have access to it for all of my classes and repair shops are out of my budget due to my position as a student.
I have been trying to get a hold of my warranty information, but my grandmother, who gifted me the laptop and had access to all of that information, has since passed away. I am trying my best to continue to love my Razer products, but I am unsure of what to do about my laptop at this time. It has become problematic and leaves me with little room to do anything because of the situation that I'm in. For a laptop with a price point of four thousand dollars at the time, I expected more out of Razer and have been left utterly disappointed.
Any advice on what I could do to help manage this temperature issue would be greatly appreciated.
