Cant make Razor blade 15 go 144hz on another monitor

Hello u all :smile_:

I have bought a laptop:
Razor blade 15 2019 with 2080 rtx.

The laptop screen is too little, and I want to have another monitor connected to it, so I can play on a bigger screen (24" 144hz).
But my problem is the laptop only has hdmi and usb c....
I cant figure out what cable to buy, to get 144hz on the other monitor?? I started out buying a hdmi cable because i thought it could handle 144hz. After buying 3 different hdmi cables it seems it dosent work... I can only play with 60 hz.. (the monitor can do 144hz).
I guess I have to find a cable USB-c to displayport? Because my monitor dosent have USB-c.
But I cant seem to find this cable where it says, it supports playing with 144hz. And I cant find any forum where they link the cable i need, just the same question..

So I hope some of you Razer fans have the same laptop and plays on a external monitor and can tell me what cable to buy? I dont want to waste more money on cables that dosent work. I just want to play 144hz!!:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye_:
Im really about to loose my mind about this..

Thank you all :smile_:

Best experience on high refresh rate would be a display port, your blade has it. Buy Mini DP to DP, I believe that monitor has also DP right?
Ty for your resonse.
Yes the monitor have DP. But the laptop only has Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C), HDMI and USB Type C as you can see on the image. So I can't use a mini DP to DP. But I think I could maybe use a USB-C to DP. But I don't know if it will run 144hz? And I cant see to find a cable that says it will play with 144hz. But I think someone must have the same or similar laptop and can tell me how it works or what cable to look for?
Maybe its because its still new and so what. But a laptop that is so god damn expensive and dosent have DP or at least the product owner could describe how they thought it should work when they make a powerful gaming machine but not with the normal outputs. Or at least include or sell the cables that will work to an external monitor. I have a Zowie XL2546 aswell. Even that screen dosent have Thunderbolt input..

It’s not released Blade 15 2020, your model blade 15 2019 should have Mini DisplayPort between kenisington lock and HDMI or they forgot to add it:big_grin_:

Yes you can use TB3 port for usb c to dp adapter and output as DP but you can output g sync if your monitor has the Modul or can output adaptive g sync, DP is more reliable connection imo.
Ty for your response once again.
Yes, it is Blade 2019, so my laptop has Mini Displayport.. How stupid of me not knowing. I just googled the outputs to see what they were, and I found the 2020 and not 2019 :smile_:
But one of my friends have a usb c to displayport cable. I tried it out and it didnt work.. Maybe the cable is too old or dosent support 144hz.
So now I have ordered a mini displayport to displayport cable and really hope it works. I will write again when I have tested the new cable.
The cable is a "DisplayPort 1.2, 4K, 3D, 21.6Gbps". The most expensive our local cable guy has, so I hope that will do it for me :smile_:
cool. Let Dag know if it worked. Also consider getting an extra blade. I'd like to connect this one to another monitor as well. That would be an option.

May I know what is the solution for Razer Blade 15 2020 which does not have the mini-DP? Can it also work with the TB3 to DP cable on a G-Sync monitor? Can I have a TB3 dock in the middle; thus, TB3 -> Dock -> DP -> Monitor?

Apparently usb c DP adapter can pull g sync on 2019 blade 15 according a user on Reddit. I don’t have 2019 so I can’t confirm it. Only on stealth late 2019 and Blade 15 2018 TB3, both can output 144Hz but not g sync using usb c to DP adapter, he (Redditor) said it’s different tb3 configuration with Blade 15 2019 and probably 2020 as well, I’m not sure since blade stealth late 2019 is released later than 2019 blade 15.
Thanks for the response. I was on a chat with the support earlier. He told me that TB3 is not using the NVIDIA GPU but the integrated intel graphics, instead. I think g-sync is now out of the picture, unfortunately. I guess the better option is to use HDMI.
But with HDMI you just can't transfer like 60Hz.

Yes, thanks for the tip. I bought a USB-C to displayport cable and it's indeed better than HDMI. I get a refresh rate of 143hz instead of 85 hz with HDMI and the display is much sharper, too.

So did it work? and which cable did you buy?

Cheers
