Deathadder V2 and Windows user-profile login

Hi!

I've purchaesed a Deathadder V2 and it works well and I'm very happy with it.

But I've one problem wich drives me crazy: If I log into another profile on my Windows machine there is a really long delay (about ~10 minutes) until the explorer-shell loads. The taskbar does not show any notificiation and it is not possible to open the start menu during this time. In the eventlogs there are severall app-hang messages (mostly explorer.exe, but other apps appear there randomly).

Once the profile is loaded, switching between profiles odes work without problems. But everytime I reboot my machine only the first login works, witch is really annoying.

And thats why I am posting in this forum: If I disconnect the mouse, everything works as usual! As soon as the mouse is connected, the problems start again.

I have made a clean Windows reinstall and installed no other software and the problem is exactly the same. Deathadder-Firmware is up to date.

Has someone an idea hof to fix this?

Hi, I have the exact same problem with DeathAdderV2. Wrote to support about it and still waiting for an answer.
I tested the mouse on another computer - the result were the same.

With my old Razer Abyssus mouse the problem does not exists.

I found out that when the "Welcome" screen hangs you can press Ctrl+Alt+Del and start the Task manager. Then look for the process "dwm.exe" and kill the process from the first session login, usually runs under "DWM-1" username, if the first login was after the computer restart. Then Profile load will continue to load instantly. And if you the lock the second session and log to the first session again it works ok (the "dwm.exe" will be restarted for the first session), but only until you log off or restart the computer. Stand-by has the same impact. However, if you change the Power plan so, that the computer goes to hibernate it won't hang until the Windows is restarted or the user logs off.

And yes, it is really annoying. Im also very happy with the mouse but will have to change it, if the problem is not fixed.

Hi there! Thanks for initiating this thread. Were you able to isolate the issue by logging in as a guest user? Please reset the mouse by clicking the gear icon at the top-right corner of Razer Synapse and select the device under the "Reset" in the side menus. I'll wait for your follow-up.
Hi,

I have three users on my computer, each has a MS Account and logs in with PIN-Code. I have tried to reset the mouse as you described, but with no luck. Unfortunately the issue remains.

Thanks for letting me know. You are right, it seems like the mouse or the Razer Synapse 3.0 is freezing or taking time every time your are switching profile. By the way, are you switching Razer Synapse 3.0 account when you mean mentioned you are switching profile? Please repair your Razer Synapse by performing the following:

1. Right-click the Start button.
2. Select Apps and Features.
3. Search for Razer.
4. Select Synapse.
5. Choose to uninstall.
6. "Uninstall" again.
7. Wait for the Razer menu to open, then select "Repair".
8. Wait for the repairing process to finish and restart once it prompts you.
9. Central services will request you to log in, then launch Razer Synapse.

Hi, thanks for your answer, but I already did that with no success. I also tried the mouse on another computer with no Synapse 3.0 installed, the issue is the same.
No, by switching profiles I meant switching Windows User Profiles (log on with User A, then lock the User A and log on with user B on the same computer).

Hi there, I have the very same issue. I bought the same DeathAdder v2 along with Cynosa V2 and the issue is that I can't switch profiles under Win 10 latest build. I've 3 users on my PC - my son's, my wife's and mine. When I try to switch from any of them to any of them (from mine to my son's or vise versa or my wife's) the login screen hangs for a long time and when you go in it still can't load everything (explorer.exe hangs as per the event log).
I also tried with the Cynosa and Roccat Kone (my previous mouse) - all works like a charm! The Cynosa v2 + DeathAdder v2 - issues, old Roccat KBD + DeathAdder v2 - again issues.
In short the Cynosa works perfectly with any other mouse but the DeathAdder regardless of keyboard introduces this "hanging" effect at login upon switching users.
I also tried with the Synapse drivers and without them (de-installed). Same issue.
I even just made a complete clean re-install of Win10 without installing the Synapse - same issue.

Please advise what's going on and when this will be fixed! This is very much not OK in households where we have multiple profiles (PC sharing).
If this is not fixed I'll have to abandon Razor unfortunately...

Hi,

yeah - I know exactly how you feel (not to mention an unhappy wife, as in: "You gave a ridiculous amount of money for a new gaming rig and it is slower then the old laptop!" - so was it in my case :big_grin_:).

Joke aside - I opened a Support-Case for my purchase and will be getting a replacement mouse, where the issue as stated by Razer Support should not occur. The mouse should be arriving shortly - in one or two weeks. I'll write back the results - positive or negative.
Same over here. Just purchased Deathadder V2, reinstalled Windows 10 two times and persist.
Please I would need an urgent solution, otherwise I will return it to Amazon.

I found a work-around the issue. When you switch profiles you must not do it directly but click on your icon, do a "log-off" and then "log-in" to the other desired user.. Than everything works. I hope Razer would patch this issue with a driver or firmware update...
Thanks for your answer @Blade2086
I knew about this workaround but the problem seems to also fail when you do a cold boot (after about 5-6 hours) directly to the secondary user, and that is something that I'm not willing to admit.

Hi, were you able to resolve this issue? I am experiencing something similar with a BlackWidow v3 Pro keyboard. I am unable to do fast user switching and Support does not seem to have an answer.

Hi there! Was everything working okay after this workaround? Please send me a PM together with your Razer Synapse logs. Save it via Google Drive or to any online drive, then paste in your message as I need to submit it to our devs and Support Team. I'll wait for your follow-up.
I just installed a Razer Ornata V2 keyboard and Razer Viper mouse and am experiencing the same issue.
The "work-around" is to not switch users, but instead log-off, then log-on. You should not be forced to log-off, Windows is meant to allow Fast-Switching between users.

Some users have reported that uninstalling Synapse did not help. The only fix was to remove the mouse and/or keyboard. This would probably mean the issue is with the drivers and not Synapse.

Another work around I heard reported is to disable Human Interface Devices (HID) in the Device Manager. I don't know what side-effects that causes. Again, you should not be forced to disable things in Device Manager.

I have found the following threads discussing this same issue:
Hello all,
I'm experiencing the same issue. The only way to switch user account on windows 10 is to disconnect my deathadder v2 mouse and use the keyboard to switch. Is there any progress in a solution to the problem?
Do you have the Wireless Deathadder or the Wired?
This is what got from Razer late July.

[indent]"We would like to inform you that your reported concern has been successfully replicated by our team. Please look forward to a future update to resolve the issue. We currently have no ETA on when the fix will be rolled out, however, we acknowledge that the issue is present and are working towards developing a fix.
"In the meantime, the only workaround is to ensure that only one Windows User is active when using the Razer device.
"The fix will likely be in the form of a firmware update, so we advise to check the product's support page for the firmware update once it becomes available.

Hi guys @Saffroncarpoly063 and Gimp2004! Encino_Stan is right. The team is aware of this behavior, and our devs are working on a fix. Please contact our Support Team via chat or email by clicking this link so Razer can track all those affected users and check your Synapse logs as well. I'll be locking this thread now. Feel free to send me a PM should you have other questions or concerns.
