However, over the last few hours, the keyboard appears to have stopped working. Though a couple of keys were impacted at first, now the majority are unresponsive. The only responsive buttons are shift, CTRL, Alt, and the Windows key in addition to the power key (luckily). When I press the Windows key, a myriad of programmes pop up (e.g. Sticky Notes, PowerPoint, SPSS) in addition to a repeating set of characters (680=p`qwo680=p`qwo680=p`qwo, etc. though I’m 90% sure this means nothing) and accessibility programmes (e.g. the magnifier function).
It is worth nothing that the keyboard remains lit up, and external keyboards appear to be working successfully (mostly).
I’ve tried multiple fixes, all of which have had no success:
[indent]
- Rebooting the system
- Reinstalling the keyboard drive
- Resetting Windows, which was unsuccessful. Indeed, it managed to partially reset before failing, and reverting to the current state, but not without causing further problems through partially removing various programmes, resulting in code execution being unable to proceed (e.g. when attempting to open a Microsoft Office programme)
Long story short, I no longer have a functioning laptop. Which is bad timing considering it’s become my main work machine, and even worse news considering I have no money… To me, I think of water damage – however, the laptop is new and has had no exposure to liquid as far as I am aware.
I’ve also contacted Razer support about this, but thought it was well-worth worth hearing your opinions too. I’d appreciate any advice very much. Thanks, and I look forward to your replies.
Dan.
