Hi all!
Looking to upgrade the SSD from the stock 512gb I just wanted to see if my system will support he new Gen4 PCIe M.2 SSD.

This is the system with the i7-9750, 16gb Ram (now at 32gb), 2070, and FHD 240hz

Thanks!

i have a early 2019 and wondering the same
well wonder no more. I bought the XPG Gaming S50 Gen 4 1tb drive. It does show up in the BIOS as a 1tb drive so I would say yes, the system will recognize and use it. Now I havent tried to load the OS on it yet.
Yikes that has really low write speeds compared to the top dog from Samsung.
seriously? This has read/write performance of 5000/4400MB per second. What model of Samsung are you talking about and what its specs?

It looks like this drive was just released and it doesn't have any real world benchmarks from users. Companies will tout ridiculous numbers to get people to buy their product. Samsung included.

Here is a great review as well: https://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/9254/seagate-firecuda-520-1tb-nvme-pcie-gen4-2-ssd-review/index.html

Now regarding the XPG s50 - does this really fit with the heatsink on the drive?

I bought this computer at Best Buy the other day and had to return it because it was blue screening really often. I ordered it off of razor the next day thinking it was a just hardware defect, but I did more research and it looks like a couple of people have had these problems. I just wanted to get someone’s opinion that owns it and is not an influencer, so has anything like this happened to you in owning it?

dunno if the gen4 is worth it since you can't use the full speed of the thing. Price alone is not worth the extra for it since it won't get speeds past gen3 since the blade doesn't support gen4. I am about to upgrade to a 2tb and price i've seen is about 210 for an inland model on amazon and it seems good. I might lose a few megs of speed but nothing serious. Save a few bucks and get the gen3 if you can still return the gen4 one you got.
Does anybody know if 4TB is supported like the Sabrent 4TB Rocket NVMe PCIe M.2?
Here is your answer:

PCI-E Gen 4 is currently limited only to motherboards using the AMD X570 chipset. The standard is backwards compatible, though, so if you buy a G4 drive it will work in the Razer Blade, just not at its fully rated speed.

The biggest problem is simply finding the right external housing for the upgraded M2. Have had 3 pieces, different specifications, but only one had worked. Then the clone could go.
