Razer Kiyo - Not working at Synapse 3----Fixed!!!

Hello everyone,

Just another thread out of the many out there, where kiyo is hating Synapse 3 and does not want to work properly. I have opened a support ticket for this issue at razer support, and the Developer team where unable to solve this problem on brand new hardware. So, i am turning to the community for help, while raising awareness of the issue so that razer team looks into it extensively, which by the way, they should have done already given the big number of users facing this issue already.

Issue is pretty straightforward at this point. Whenever i start synapse 3 and go at the broadcaster tab, controls/settings are greyed out and cannot be clicked or altered in any way. Preview is disabled and no matter how many times i click, it wont start as you will see in the screenshot i provide. The other razer hardware i have connected (Razer Huntsman TE, Razer Viper Ultimate) work as intended without any problems. I have tried all the known troubleshooting steps provided either by razer support or community members without any luck:

1) Clean uninstalling razer synapse 3 + removing all drivers and clean installing synapse 3,
2) Tried all different USB ports on my pc
3) Deleted only drivers completely and then reinstalled them
4) Performed system maintenance?? (Very generic term...)
5) As a last resort, i formatted windows OS!!!! and the outcome was the same.
6) There are no other third party software installed controlling the camera in any way
7) My windows OS has no corrupted files, i perform SFC /SCANNOW & DISM RESTOREHEALTH on a daily basis and how the hell could there be corrupted OS files on a freshly installed Windows PC??

This issue is either firmware related or there is an incompatibillity of Synapse 3 + Windows 2004 Build because i have read numerous times that kiyo + synapse 3 are working fine at windows 1909 build

I only want to use the KIYO webcam for Zoom meetings (to employ the light source built into the camera), but the instructions to set up this device is way above this 71 year-old's paygrade. Should I return this device and get a simpler device, or is there a simple application protocol for my simple need?

Sir,
Make sure you have connected your device to a USB port,
This is an easy to use camera device, plug & play, already pretty straightforward in functionallity and use.
Try rotating the outer rim of your device whilst inside a camera software (windows camera for example).
Rotate clockwise to turn on and brighten the light, anti-clockwise to dim the light of the device
My Synapse 3 will not work. It "fails to start" when I try to open it. It was working fine until it froze up in the camera setting section. I couldn't adjust the settings no matter what I tried. I followed the advice on here and uninstalled and reinstalled the software. Now I get this error "failed to start" message. I can't even get in to see if the other issue is resolved. I use this for work and really need to find a fix. Thanks in advance for your help!

Sir, I am not a techical support member but i would suggest taking the following steps that might fix your issue. If this does not help i would suggest opening a support case here: https://mysupport.razer.com/

DISCLAIMER: All the information given, is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis and you agree that you use such information entirely at your own risk. Under no circumstances will i be held responsible, for the loss of any data or any damage which may occur while performing work on your computer.

Steps to follow that might fix your problem:

  • Perform a CLEAN uninstall of synapse software: Press Windows Button + I to open settings, then navigate to 'Apps' tab. Locate the Razer Synapse software on the list of your installed applications. Select Delete installation. A RazerInstaller UAC window will pop up, press 'Yes'. Next on the razer window that will pop up, select 'Uninstall'.
  • After the uninstallation process is done, navigate to C:\\Program Files (x86) and delete any razer or synapse related folder that you might find.
  • Press windows button + R (this will open a Run window on your bottom left corner) and copy paste the following and press 'OK': %appdata% (Delete any Razer or Synapse related folder that you will find)
  • Once again, press windows button + R (this will open a Run window on your bottom left corner) and copy paste the following and press 'OK': %localappdata% (Delete any Razer or Synapse related folder that you will find)
  • The following step involves deleting any Razer entry that might exist inside the Registry of windows: Press windows button + R (this will open a Run window on your bottom left corner) and copy paste the following and press 'OK': regedit (A Registry Editor windows will pop up) On your left there will be folder-like entries: Locate and double click HKEY_CURRENT_USER and on the dropped down entries, double click SOFTWARE. This will drop down even more entries, one of which might be a RAZER entry. Locate it, right-click it and press Delete.
  • Yet again, on your left there will be folder-like entries: Locate and double click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and on the dropped down entries, double click SOFTWARE. This will drop down even more entries, one of which might be a RAZER entry. Locate it, right-click it and press Delete. Then, you can close this window.
  • Restart your computer
  • When your PC boots up, press windows button + R (this will open a Run window on your bottom left corner) and copy paste the following and press 'OK': devmgmt.msc (A device manager window will pop up, with all of your device drivers, currently installed on your computer) Locate any Razer Device Driver that you might have listed there and right click it and select 'Uninstall Device'. Make sure you also check the box that says 'Delete the driver software for this device' before pressing 'OK'.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Download a fresh Synapse3 installation setup from here: https://www.razer.com/synapse-3
  • See if the issue is resolved.

Dear friend,

Thank you a TON for this helpful guide. That actually worked!!!
I have had this problem since day one when i bought this device back in July!
I opened 2 support tickets regarding this issue and also came in contact with at least 2 razer support forum members.
I have searched for days and nights forums, google, i spoke to the retailer whom i bought the camera from...Nothing helpful!!
May i ask where you found this solution friend???
Same scenario. Sleepless nights...
And a bit of luck during experimentation....
Nevertheless, thank you once again!

I have renamed thread title as fixed now, and edited OP with your troubleshooting steps with credit to you.
I also updated the open razer cases as resolved, gave credit to your name and quoted the troubleshooting steps you provided.

Have a nice day, and stay safe bro
Seen all and appreciated!
Same to you! (till next windows major update...) :mad_:

Να 'σαι καλά man μου.
Είναι πολύ καλή. Εγώ τη χρησιμοποιώ επαγγελματικά
