Razer USB Audio Controller Buttons Not Working

I have the Razer USB Audio dongle for my Kraken Tournament Edition headset and it worked just fine until recently. I believe after the Windows 10 v2004 update, the THX and Mute buttons on the dongle will no longer work. Manually switching these on the Synapse software works fine but the buttons on the dongle itself will no longer trigger the switches on Synapse like they used to. Does anyone know a fix to this? I have reinstalled the device on Device Manager and also reinstalled Synapse but it hasn't worked.

I have the same issue with the regular Kraken headset: after the Window 10 v2004 update pushing the buttons no longer propagate to other applications including Razer Synapse and for instance Microsoft Teams. Before the update, I could press the mute button and Teams would show muted as well.

Also, the muted state is no longer kept between reboots. Before, when I would shut down my computer with muted state on the dongle, it would keep being muted on the next startup. Now it is always unmuted.

On a sidenote: the equalizer seems affected as well. Changing levels in Synapse does not seem to change anything.

Googling Windows 10 2004 sound issues learns that sound equipment from other manufacturers are affected as well and driver updates are a common solution. Because of this, I think Microsoft changed part of the interface of the sound subsystem of Windows 10 and only an update from Razer will fix this.
for what it's worth, I changed my settings for the Razer Kraken TE Game device to 16bits-48khz instead of 24bits so it maches the settings of the Synapse Razer THX Audio virtual audio device. Before doing that, i had tried to remove and reinstall synapse 2 with no result. I even tried the reset device thing but all it does is create the default profile for the device.
