Switching to other Trinity panels doesn't work

I usually use the 7 button side panel mouse for gaming (whether I'm playing a MOBA or MMO) but I recently wanted to try out the 12 button side panel, but when I attach it, my lights on my trinity stay turned off, and the buttons don't work. In synapse, it looks like it's registered as having nothing connected to the side. When I plug in my 7 button panel, everything works normally again. The same thing happened with the 2 button, which isn't a problem since I have no reason to use it, but I want the 12 button working. Anyone have any ideas for what I can do? I tried restarting, nothing has worked so far. I tried contacting support but it says it's past warranty, so I guess I don't get live chat anymore
