Is there a way to fix Ornata V3 design flaw? | Razer Insider

Hi all,

THIS IS ALSO A WARNING FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO BUY ORNATA V3 X.

I recently (2 weeks ago) bought Ornata V3 X. I use this keyboard for gaming and quite a lot for typing.

Gaming is no problem but when it comes to typing - keyboard’s backlight is a VERY BAD DESIGN.

I didn’t have the chance to try this keyboard in dark room before I bought and I though this “floating keys” effect is cool but unfortunately, it’s a disaster for someone who still needs to look at keys when he types.

Problem is that amount of light emitted from the keyboard “plate” is very high, compared to amount of light emitted by the symbols on the keys. Intensity of light coming from under the keys and from the gaps between the keys, causes eye pupils to contract (when you take a look at the keyboard in dark room) and makes symbols on the keys barely visible (as they emit a lot less light).

This is a very big problem for someone who still needs to look at the keyboard when he types as contrast between highlight from keyboard “plate” and symbols make it symbols very difficult to read.

This proves that this keyboard was designed without consideration for human eye mechanics and it’s practically useless for typing in dark room conditions.

Do you have any idea how can I fix (or minimize) this problem?

  • Dimming the backlight wont work because it dims the symbols too

Cheers

Greetings from Greece!

In all honesty, that was the very first thing I noticed when I connected the keyboard.

The light emitted from the keyboard “plate” is quite intense just as you describe and, as you so correctly pointed out, much more intense than the light on the key symbols mi.e. letters, numbers, other symbols].

This in fact, causes me to become a bit dizzy.

I had to adjust brightness to a very low level but it still makes me kind of dizzy.

I will let Razer know of this immediately.
