Last Update broke Tartarus Pro

Just recently updated to Razer Synapse version 3.8.831.90619.  It has rendered my Tartarus Pro, Model RX07-0311, P/N: RZ07-03110100, unable to remap keys.  For example, if I try to remap the 01 key to Esc, and click “save,” nothing happens.  It does not remap and if I go to click another key, I get a notification saying that the “changes have not been saved yet.”  If I click “save,” from within this notification, it still does not save and just moves onto the next key.

Because of this problem, I can no longer use the keypad for anything other than the default mapping, which is pretty much useless.

Additionally, every single custom profile I have every created has been wiped out.  The profiles are there but when I select them, I am shown the default mapping.  This is not as big of a deal as being unable to remap, but I have lost years of saved profiles for all the various games I play.

Interestingly, the “alt” key, or button above the D-pad has somehow maintained it’s mapping as a “switch keymap” key.

Anyone else experience this issue?

UPDATE:  I tried uninstalling and Synapse 3, but that did not fix the problem.  I have discovered that the keymapping issue appears to be related to the profiles I had before the update as when I create a brand new profile I am able to map keys normally.

I also discovered that the old profiles are semi functional.  Even though the keymap displays the default key, the key is actually still mapped to the profile.  For example, I normally remap the 01 key to “Esc.”  When I select one of my pre-update profiles, the 01 key will still display as if it is the default key, when in reality, if I press the 01 key, it will actually input “Esc.”  The upside here is that my old profiles have essentially been maintained however if I ever need to update them I won’t be able to.  I will have to start over with a new profile.

I am in the same boat as you mate. And i have to admit that i am very angry as all my profiles are worth a s****. I am not able to remap keys within a profile, means i have to make new ones for every game over the years. I am speechless that such a bug can happen as it destroys everything. BS!

You can’t even make new profiles. When you try to make a new profile it won’t let you map any keys. Its basically a paperweight.

The recent update fixed it. Go to check for updates and update synapse.

I did not had a new update to my knowledge. I’m on Version 3.8.930.91517 and at least i can create new Profiles, cause all the old ones would not work anymore.

I can remap keys except for the D pad keys (directional buttons from the thumb d pad)

I have seen a few other reports of this issue, so it is not isolated.

Here are a few things you can try to resolve the issue:

  • Restart your computer. This can often fix minor software glitches.
  • Uninstall and reinstall Razer Synapse 3. Be sure to download the latest version from the Razer website.
  • Try running Razer Synapse 3 as an administrator.
  • Try resetting Razer Synapse 3 to its defaults. To do this, go to Settings > Razer Synapse > Reset.

If you are still unable to remap your keys or save your profiles after trying the above steps, then you may need to contact Razer support for further assistance.

As for your lost profiles, there is no way to recover them if you did not have them backed up. However, you can create new profiles and remap your keys from scratch.

I hope this information is helpful.

I’m having the same problem. I experienced the same problem you’re having but also now I can change the key and save it, and it will say it save, and the device registers the key press, but the button will simply just not work. The only way to fix it is to create a brand new profile and just rebind everything. Even exporting the profile, and then re-importing it will not work.

I’ve found out that Macro’s working on the Huntsman V2, aren’t acknowledged on my Tartarus Pro when assigned to a key.. The assignment shows within the keypad profile and within the Macro assigned section.. However, it only outputs the default key, and the same can be said for the Hypershift, which the if you removed f from, sums up my current rage about Razer..

Edit: I have just discovered after hours of tried and tested things, that disabling the key and then restarting the app and then reassigning the key Macros finally started to work...

I also have had my Tartarus Pro profiles wiped.

I can rebind the keys except the D-Pad.

Have you fixed this?

I have the same issue.

I’m in a similar boat. I updated Synapse and it stopped even recognizing my Tartarus Pro. I’m not happy. I’m trying to troubleshoot right now, but so far nothing has fixed it, and it’s much harder to do without being able to talk to a human being. My fancy keypad is now basically a paperweight.
Realistically speaking, this should not be something that happens at all. If there are problems that persist over months and a company doesn’t work to fix them, they have lost my business.

My Tartarus Pro started not being able to switch properly between keymaps and users like a month ago and now basically everything has stopped working. Tried installing the new Beta Synapse only to find out that it doesn’t even support Tartarus Pro and re-installed Synapse 3 and loaded up my saved keymaps and it just straight up doesn’t work. Keymaps appear mostly okay but nothing actually works like it is supposed to. Just defaults across the board. I use my Tartarus for all of my creative apps and now have near zero productivity because I’ve forgotten how to function with a regular keyboard. Super disappointed in the disfunction of this software.

Just reinstalled windows and all apps (clean system reset) and now the Synapse BETA doesnt even recognize its available. so stuck on default keybinds. so liked space above d-pad. any update on this. cant find the anything else remotely like the logitech g13 I had

I have the same problem with the latest update.  I can no longer remap any keys on the D-Pad of my Tartarus Pro, however other keys can be remapped just fine.

I wish someone from support would acknowledge this issue and try to reproduce it and get the dev team working on a fix...

I’ve had odd issues like this for several versions of the Synapse software. Used to have to unplug Tartarus after I started MW3 to get left and right to work on d-pad but last update has even removed that fix. I can no longer use it to play. When Tartarus is plugged in it even disables “A” and “D” or whatever keys I set d-pad to on the actual keyboard.

Userlevel 1

So this created by someone 5 months ago and now here I am on 3.9.0131.020813 from 18th Feb and I still cannot use a Tartarus Pro in Synapse 3. It’s a device I had to buy because Synapse 3 wouldn’t recognise my previous keypad. What the actual efff?

These people are nothing more than pirates, robbing us blind. The Synapse can see the damned thing and I can set keys and have colours and use profiles that switch so it all looks like it’s going to work and nothing happens. The D-PAD and the scroll wheel pass data and things happen on screen with them but any actual keys do nothing. How can they get away with such utterly poor service for such a long time?

Yeah, this is why I cringe and run away from buying any new Razer products now 😒
