I'm a neuroscientist planning to use the Tartarus Pro keypad for a research project evaluating neural activity during motor learning in patients with Parkinson's Disease. The project will last 2-3 years. I will be directly aligning keypad output with concurrent neural signals from implanted brain devices. Keypad would not see heavy use- maybe a cumulative hour of use once per month. Before ordering, here are some questions for which I've been seeking answers:
1) the actuation is analog adjustable, but is the output from each key also actually analog? i.e., when someone presses a key, is the output from that key gradually increasing from the start to end of keypress, or does the keyboard just output a value once the set actuation threshold is reached?
2) If output is all-or-none (see question 1), can we set two thresholds per key such that when fully depressing a single key, there is output from the first, shallow actuation threshold crossing, immediately followed by output from the second, deeper threshold crossing?
3) if used directly with an arduino (bypassing synapse), would i be able to access the full analog output signal from each key?
4) is there any reason this keyboard should not be able to directly interface with an arduino?
5) what is the lag time of ground truth actuation relative to output?
6) how much force is required to move the key any distance? (in units of Newtons would be ideal)
7) what is the accuracy of ground truth actuation relative to output? (e.g., pressed key distance x and distance x+10 was actually recorded would be error of 10)
how low of an actuation threshold can be set to maintain that accuracy without false positives? (e.g., false positive = output signal indicates key is pressed when no one is pressing key)
