Hello,
I recently bought the new 3rd generation razer switches, however I have the 2014 BlackWidow Tournament Edition keyboard and I wanted your help to understand if they are compatible and if you could recommend any material that would help to change them.

PS: Didn’t find anything useful in Razer FAQs

Hello again,

After a lot of research, I discovered that they are compatible, but not in the same dimension as blackwidow v4 75% (hot swappable), it turns out that with other mechanical keyboards you have to desolder the old switch as well as the RGB led (2+4 = 6 pins), the gen 3 switches on the In place of the LED there is a transparent plastic that in place of the LED can be removed and replace the LED that comes out of the old switch.

Worth it ?, i don't think so, its time consuming and you have to have soldering skills, maybe if you have a faulty switch, not to upgrade them (e.g gen 1 to gen 3)

Hello

If I replaced a gen 1 faulty switch (6 pins) with a gen 3 switch (2 pins) would the LED still work?

Yes, switch has nothing to do with a LED (LED is soldered directly to keyboard PCB/motherboard).
