Requesting a new updated Tartarus V3/Pro 2

I’m so close to buying a tartarus, but I see it’s over 5 years old and missing a few features that should be standard that would make this perfect for serious gamers, casual gamers, and for productivity. Here are some things that would make this keypad king of all keypads:

  • Wireless capabilites - Bluetooth, 2.4 ghz with 1000 polling rate, and detachable usb c cable
  • Swappable key switches with their razor key switches or allow HE key switches. This would allow adjustments to the actuation point to be .1mm where as right now it’s 1.5 with optical switches
  • Onboard memory to saves macros and button mapping
  • Mac support for productivity
  • Multiple device support
  • Analog joystick or at least make it modular similar to what’s on the V2/pro

If other people feel tha same, please add a comment or like the post to try to make this happen.

I’ve been using a Tartarus Pro for 5+ years and it’s still my go-to device in most FPS games for a few reasons:

  • Ortholinear key layout - with the wrist rest, this is much more ergonomic than twisting your hand/keyboard
  • Takes up minimal desk space - more room for a big mousepad
  • Thumb D-Pad - I usually use this for inventory slots meaning I don’t have to take fingers off the WASD keys to switch items

That said, there’s definitely room for a improvement, and enough to warrant a refresh so my wish list:

  • Detachable USB-C cable & Wireless option
  • Analog-Optical V2 switches (gib me snap-tap!)
  • Modular thumb area - the ability to swap between D-Pad, hall-effect analog stick or simply some extra thumb buttons would be amazing, kind of like Razer did with the Naga Trinity. Also, lots of people had problems with the D-Pad microswitches failing and a modular setup could solve that.
  • Onboard memory - I hate having to have the Synapse software running for my keybinds to be in effect. Many times, I’ve lost the ability to sprint mid-match because SHIFT wasn’t bound.

Does anybody know if there are any plans for new version? I have pro and I like it, but it would be SO MUCH BETTER with traditional mechanical switches.

Have 2 Tartarus Pro and used to have Orbweaver that I modded with new switches. About to cannibalise a Huntsman with optical reds v2 and put them in one of my Tartarus Pro , yes dual functionality will not work per key anymore but just can't deal with the purple switches anymore.  Please create a new product with HE switches and wireless option wirj usb C as wired alternative just like your mice. It's high time for a new Tartarus product !

I would honestly love this, no clue why they haven’t even given us the time of day to say yeah we’re making it or no we’re stuck in this dark space where we hope for a V3 or new pro and they just don’t reply. Really would like snap tap features and any upgrades OP said would be unreal.

wish this sub got so much more traction so they’d consider it or tell us nah, I’m so close to buying a Tartarus pro but am holding out praying they release a new model

Well, the Tartarus pro finally got snap-tap! But I agree, would love to see a wireless option and get rid of the scroll wheel.

I’ve been using these for so long that the first one I owned was the Belkin Nostromo N52, before Razer bought the rights to the design.   But I completely agree.  I’ve been hoping for years that Razer would release a wireless version.  There’s a ton of empty space under the palm rest to add either a AA battery receptacle or rechargeable battery pack along with a wireless transmitter.

I don’t know that I agree with completely removing the scroll wheel, but I do think that quality of the current scroll wheel is lacking.  Maybe replace it with three reprogrammable buttons with mouse wheel scroll up, down, and center as their defaults.  That way you wouldn’t get the random scrolling that the current wheel sometime causes, but would be able to keep the mouse scroll wheel functions.

I want to say this i love my NOSTROMO and i wouldn’t play any other mmo with out it but they are discontinuing synapse 2 so i decided to buy the TARTARUS V2 feels great on the hand and buttons where comfortable great looking device, the problem i have is i couldn’t get the buttons to change though it could be user error and i installed/reinstalled synapse3 and 4 multiple times and still couldnt get it to work . so i would say if you in the market to buy dont buy

While Razer does have a habit of “updating” the synapse software in such a way that it’s less and less intuitive to use each iteration, I’ve never had the issue you describe of being unable to reassign the buttons on the Tartarus.  I’d recommend finding a YouTube e video on programming your Tartarus.

I have searched every source that you could search for, I will say the only button that did change was the side button with the joy stick. I’m just going to return this product and stick with my nostromo untill it stops working .Thank you for the kind response At least folks in the community responded

I’m using the latest version of synapse and I’m able to reprogram every button on it, I hope you can figure it out!

I’ve been using my Razer NOSTROMO for over 15 years and it’s still working GREAT! I’ll probably get a Tartarus as an upgrade, but the already existing features are just fine for me.

That's been push to talk and volume control since 2017!  Detachable at the very least cleaning my desk is difficult.

If it skips it's dirty. Clean it with alcohol and it will work again.

I have designed and shipped my own parts for the Tartarus v2/ pro. I have made the keypad hot swap, and converted the D-pad into an analog joystick. But I have options that are analog, hall effect and TMR hall effect sticks. It’s programmed in a way that’s fully customizable for joystick angle etc. It can be made into a gamepad or programmed as a keyboard.
